Wacom Tablet Illustration Advice/Tutorials
I purchased myself a new Wacom Bamboo Manga a couple weeks ago, and was wondering if anyone knows of any good tutorials for illustrating in Photoshop/Illustrator, or if anyone had personal advice? I seem to be having the most trouble trying to get a smooth line - mine seem to come out quite squiggly.

The squiggly line is because the resolution of the tablet is so low you're pretty much painting with blocks that are trying to be lines. You got a shitty tablet that will never be good at anything.

I'm sure my Wacom Bamboo is older, shittier and cheaper than yours and it works and creates just like any other Tablet, troll on sir, troll on
.....Maybe you should redownload your driver and adjust your pressure sensitivity? Also maybe download a different brush
?

I was about to give up until someone told me to get a real tablet instead. The difference was glorious because instead of scribbly lines I was actually making legitimate strokes like a regular pencil.
The only use I can see from a cheap tablet is making the lineart without the tablet at all, scanning it into the computer, and using it for coloring only. Even then it's nearly impossible to make any decent detailed texturing with it.
to be fair I'm comparing modern tech to stuff I struggled with 8 years ago when tablets were still a new thing. I haven't experimented with bamboo at all but OPs complaint about jagged lines is something I hated with a passion almost a decade ago.

I'd expect for those tablets of 10YEARS ago, to be of newcomer quality, but ummm, as far as the newer lesser value tablets, I've seen some amazing shit come from them on DeviantART, and for his rather new tablet to have jagged lines, it's either the manufacturer faults of the tablet, or his program, my cheap ass Wacom Bamboo never has made a "jagged" line, unless made to do so...

Re: Wacom Tablet Illustration Advice/Tutorials
I'm not a professional illustrator, but I am a professional industrial designer, and I do use my tablet for professional work; here's my opinion:
I have an Intuos 4, my friend has a Bamboo; I've used both and on renders of a normal scale and print quality, I can't see any difference. I wish I'd saved my money and bought a Bamboo, it's perfectly adequate for what I use it for.
I would say to stick with a Bamboo until you really, honestly need to upgrade. You may never need to. I sketch on paper and only use the tablet for renders, so perhaps I don't need such a high resolution.

My degree was in automotive design, but I fell into designing medical products (an interest in ergonomics), and now I'm doing contract work designing a super-trendy-mobile-eco-travel-pod (a posh caravan by any other name, but god, don't let the people in marketing hear you call it that). I'm going back to do a master's degree in September.
What about you?

Cool colors. It looks like invader zim with orange skin!
Try painting without lines. As you can see in this simulation there are no lines.
