Shadow people

Looking for thoughts on these. Woke up from sleep about 4am this morning and saw one crouched down run behind my couch. Googled it and was beyond shocked. Saw how they feed off negative energy etc. I myself being very mean and negative last few days it makes sense. Any thoguhts or stories?

You were probably in the hypnopompic stage of sleep, which commonly involves hallucinations of strange lights, music or voices, out of body experiences, etc. Shadow people occur in this time as well.

Lots of people also believe there is a metaphysical component, that such entities are in fact real, and that they are feeding on your negativity. I won't say I know for sure whether or not this is true, although it is strange what you will see during an out-of-body experience. I'm accustomed to these dark figures fleeing from the corners of my peripheral vision, not standing menacingly in plain sight.

It gets worse when I'm sleep deprived, or if I've been using too many stimulants, or both; I've noted that I also see them often when I read about them.

Yup. Drugs, sleep deprivation, etc. Just because "shadow people" are a common hallucination among people doesn't mean that they actually exist, it could just be because of how our brains are wired. That's not to say that I completely put such supernatural theories out of the realm of possibility, but don't jump to conclusions, idk.

Yes, I tend to see things this way too. Common experience does not necessarily imply objective reality.

You should sleep in a darker room. This way it would be harder to see the shadow people.

Not during hypnogogia. You'd see their outline in the dark, or you'd hear their feet thud across the room. If that weren't possible, they would just whisper to you instead--evil things, in horrible languages you can't understand. At the very least you'd sense their presence and know fear like you've never felt before.

There are quite a few that can be seen, regardless of their origins. Sleep paralysis is when they come in full force. No matter what happens, don't be afraid: simply be aware. Fear is the only real danger.
