Once you find a safe spot, stay there for a little while and watch where the balls are. Find horizontal and vertical lines that you can squeeze between and stay at without getting hit.

On the top, right, and bottom edges, these seem to never have any balls along them. The left side has one about half the time. The sides are also easiest to get from one place to another because the balls only approach it from one direction.
