Question Good Cheap netbook

I'm thinking about getting a netbook and just using my current laptop as a server/media center since it is bulky and has sucky battery life. I know there are a lot of different models and thought maybe you guys could recommend one.

Specifically I'm looking for ones that have good linux support and am considering the new inspiron the eeepc and maybe the aspire but I heard bad things about that.

Just put your Boot Priority CD-ROM as No.1 and use Ubuntu on your future notebook.

I've played around with the aspires and I wasn't a fan. They're acer which is synonymous with shit and the distro they come with is full of bugs, or so I hear.

I'm a big fan of the eepcs. I'm on a 16G 900 series one running eeedora. It's perfect. You know they're tiny but you don't realize how fucking tiny till you have one in your hands.

If I had to get something else though I'd look into the MSI Wind or HP Mininote.

I'm not impressed by the build of the Acer netbook. Acer never built their machines to last IMO.

I've played with the Eee for a fortnight and it seems like a good solid machine. They really are small...

Thanks for all the good advice and tips, The aspire is definitely off the table, I'm really liking the looks of the inspiron 9 but haven't heard much about it, I've heard good things about the eeepc though. Is Eeedora pretty much the same as the ubuntu netbook remix?

Specifically, Does anyone have any reasons why I shouldn't go with the inspiron?

Naw, that's eeebuntu. Eeedora is basically Fedora 8. Both worthy choices though.

Lenovo have also recently released a 10" netbook. If the build quality is anything like Lenovo is known for, I'd say it's better than an Eee as long as you don't mind the bigger screen.

It's quite expensive though.
