Intro Programming is gay

When I first signed up for this course, I pictured myself bashing shit into consoles and writing commandline apps in Vim. It was going to be black screens and green font all the way, baby.

But no, here I am dragging buttons around Visual Studio to make some stupid fucking calculator program.

I think Microsoft owns my university or something. We get loads of their software for free, and we're being taught Visual C#.

This is fucking gay.

Go on a job website and look for programming jobs. Really, .NET developer is probably the best thing to be right now when it comes to finding a programming job. Either that or mainframe, but for mainframe they only hire old fucks with 30+ years of experience. Microsoft software is where the money is at. Be glad they're teaching you that. Plus, free certificates!

If you want to program nix shit, learn it on your own or go to some indy university. My programming 101 was in god damn Oberon.

Yeah, I think you're right. It's a tiny university, and this course caters more to people who want to do a code monkey degree.

Next year it'll either be all Matlab (which I already love) or microprocessor programming in Assembler and C (which seems more hardekoor than this).
