Default Fuel cell info required

Alright Ive got an old 1988 toyota pickup with a bad frame, Ive made the body perfect and the engine runs awesome for 180k. The only problem with this truck is like any US imported 80's toyota the frame has rotted out from underneath it. Ive taken the frame down to bare metal and cut out the bad sections and Im working on it, Ill post up some pics later. Anyways one spot where there was terrible cancer was right where the gas tank was. My only recourse is to add layers of metal that will make putting the gas tank back impossible. I want to add a fuel cell into the bed since the old tank is pretty damn fucked up. What will I need to buy to do this? Ive got three hoses comming from the engine that are supposed to hook up to the fuel pump assembly.

Can I just buy a fuel cell and pump with the correct psi out put hook it up the the old hoses? The old fuel pump was electric since the truck is efi, and will the pump be inline or in "fuel cell" "tank"?

Yea well I require more pylons, so there.

I've got nothing. I don't know what the hell a fuel cell looks like besides a box, but I'd wager a guess that you don't feel like trying to make the old tank fit once you get the frame welded back together. Hint: use hammer.

I'd just as soon suggest getting some other truck like a 4-cylinder S-10 or something.

It's not misinformation. I simply don't understand why you can't MAKE the fuel tank fit while you are fucking around under the bed.

You can get them with the pump in tank. Take a look at summit racing. It would not be hard at all to set up and you could even use this as an opportunity to increase capacity!

Thanks mrfishhat! Thats exactly what I wanted to hear, some reassurance that I'm not looking for something that doesn't exist. Like I said vargus it will be impossible to put the tank back where it originally was there will be two new cross members on the frame in place of where the gas tank was and I don't think I can just bang it with a hammer until it fits unless I want a smashed to shit uneven un-level gas tank.

Try finding a scrapped/cheap model of your truck for sale somewhere, and if the chassis is better than yours then do a body swap.

I'd sleep easier knowing that I was driving something with an unwelded chassis too, but I don't know what your welding skills are like so I can't really comment on that.

If that fails the best option is probably just to rebuild the chassis the way that it was originally designed. A ladder chassis really isn't a complicated design to fabricate...
