Confused Deleting Accounts (Yes I read the FAQ)

I really think you guys should make it so that accounts can be permanently deleted and the posts evaporate - even if "quotes" don't disappear.

I understand the reasoning for why you don't, I just wish you guys did.

Yeah, I don't get why they're so anal about that rule. Seems to go against a lot of the other decisions they've made (allowing users to delete their own posts, for example). I know it isn't easy for them to implement, but I don't get why they haven't tried. Seems to be something that bugs a lot of people.

What would happen to the threads you start, and the related posts.

You post it exist, no going back.

It could be something like how it is on IMDB.com for example.

It will just say in the original post "Post Deleted," while the remainder of the discussion will go on as usual.

Of course, it will still look a little bit confusing, and may take some guesswork on behalf of the reader to try and figure out what the OP might have said, but it's better than having the entire thread deleted when there might have been some decent content from other posters.

does the thread title get deleted too,so people reading can get some idea of what the OP was?

On IMDB? I think it does delete the title IIRC.

It would be nice if the title could remain.

It's too bad that people actually feel the need to delete ALL of their posts in one fell swoop...

Yeah, no shit Einstein, that's my point. I'm saying that's kind of stupid.

The whole thread could just be deleted if OP deletes his original post or, like someone above suggested, it just says "comment deleted."

Yeah, I like the "comment deleted" idea for OPs. I don't like the idea of a member being able to delete other people's posts (even though we technically already allow that with manual deletes, which is lame).

What about making it so that the posts are untraceable to the poster?

I don't know how feasible that is from a programmers perspective though...

I mean for those who want all of their posts deleted.

I don't mean on a constant, universal basis. Wouldn't that just make this into 4chan?

Fuck that, lol.

Even better, why not just shut down the entire site?

If you're serious, you can use Lanny's code to delete every post you made with this: http://www.zoklet.net/bbs/showpost.p...9&postcount=15

If it can't delete a post (OP), it can replace the content with whatever you want.

That's due to the fact the administration is inconsistent and inept; not to mention corrupt.
