Should I play WOW

So I was craving bit of world of warcraft, after not playing it for about 5 years. Back when I did I only got to about level 55 or some shit. I didn't really get into any guilds or owt, but I did enjoy killing random bad guys.

I downloaded the starter version again and began with a new character. Is it worth starting again?
There doesn't seem to be many people around, which kinda put me off getting into it again.
Or is there owt else better where I can kill people and steal their shit.

Not really. Game is a joke now compared to what it was a few years ago, all the original devs who made vanilla/BC have left and now they're just focused on milking what they can from it. Haven't really played since Cata released but seems they've pretty much watered everything down for casuals. The newest raid, like the pinnacle of the end game supposedly, can be PuGed, so no challenge in PvE. WoW PvP has been a failure for a long time now. The world will basically be empty until you get to level 80+ (not completely but near enough).

Up to you though, I played it for a long time (too much) in a top raiding guild so that affects my thoughts on the way it has gone. I would avoid personally, wait for GW2.

Here is what you do.
Get into game. Do quests until level 20. Go do a level 20 instance.

Congratulations, you've completed 90% of the gaming content.

Oh sure, the instances have different names and different named bosses, but it's all pretty much the same shit. A long grind through mobs for gear that's a few points better than what you currently wear.

I think theres even a free (trial) edition that'll take you through the first few levels.

Yeah WOW basically got worse when BC came out terrible when WOTLK came out and unplayable when Cata came out. They dumbed the game down so much.

I recently accepted a Scroll of Resurrection. Free character transfer and instant level up to 80 is a nice bonus. You get upgraded to Cata too if you haven't bought that yet.

Screw playing the trial to see if you want to get back into it, PM me if you want a scroll.

Oh and the X-53 Nether Rocket Touring Edition is the shit

Rift was pretty cool. Similar to WOW but not as "cartoony". I liked it for a couple of months. The "dungeons" aren't instanced in that game. So you see more people all the time.

Yeah rift was great. Basically as good as wow was at its peak but with its own additions (instant adventure one of the best new ideas for an mmo in a while). Would still be playing it now but basically dead in eu, two active servers left but never above medium pop. Not sure what you mean by it had no instanced dungeons though because it certainly did. Game had some of the best designed/interesting dungeons/raids of any mmo of this type.

I played WoW for a bit when BC came out then put it down because I got bored. I picked it up again when Cata came out because of the werewolves but the wolves don't have any tails! I know werewolves historically don't have tails but it just makes them look fucking stupid when they run.

So I swallowed my rage and continued playing. The intro quests were really well done but once you get off the island it becomes a lot of the same.

WoW is still rather good compared to all the other MMOs I played but the customer support is what made me leave. Some gold farmer hacked my account and I got banned for it. After whining to the support team they unbanned me and I got an authenicator. I then took some time off and cancelled my subscription for a couple of months. When I decided to get back into the game the authenticator locked me out and my passwords were all changed. I was probably hacked again so I just gave up and moved on to Tera.

I saw that Tera was having problems with gold sellers as well but the GMs were literally IP banning entire areas to get the gold sellers out. I've been playing it for a while now and haven't seen a single advertisement at all. Since En Masse seems to actually give a fuck about their customers I'm going to stick with them for a while.

I used to play too, back when it was still only WotLK, i had an average ilvl of 264 and the raiding guild i was in was ranked in the top 20 of the server. Then came cata, and it was gay so i said fuck this game.
