Crime doesn't pay.
I know we are supposed to leave our morals at the door yada yada but before you get into crime please read my story. Maybe it will help someone change their minds about what they do in life.
I was a relatively good kid. I played sports didn't act out in class never got any joy out of that. Never really liked to or picked fights with people. You get the point.
Around 7th grade I was introduced to Collin. We quickly became best friends. We did lots of shit together and hung out almost every day. On the weekends I'd sleep over at his house.
I was introduced to his older brother brenden and brendens best friend Sean. It was with them I had a lots of firsts. Most memorably smoking weed. At first they just seemed like cool older kids.
I quickly knew something else was up. First off they always had lots of money and weed and didn't seem to ever ask for me to pay for smoking. In fact they didn't. I slowly learned they were Latin kings(despite being white) and sold basically everything.
COllins family was wealthy. There was no need for brenedn to do this. Like really wealthy as in his dad is worth 50 million+. His parents were together and they were a pretty normal happy family.
One night that all changed. Brenden got arrested and charged with possession of a large amount of cocaine and several illegal firearms. He was out on bail before I even knew it he was out on bail.
Over the course of the year I got to see a family torn apart. Collins dad began drinking heavily and is now a full blown alcoholic. His mom began going out shopping everyday. And my best friend Collin who hates me now has became somewhat of a recluse. He only games and often doesn't want to do things. I'll speculate why he doesn't want to and why he hates me is because he is afraid. He is afraid of the things I'm involved in and he's afraid of he himself falling into them as his brother once did.
Fast forward a little over 2 years to thursday. Shawn and some friends were robbing a house. Upon leaving they were followed and a police chase including several police departments and the FBI began. The had stolen money and guns. Shawn not wanting to go to jail took his own life as the police rushed the car. A decision after what he's been through I can not blame him for.
These 2 were once somewhat of gods to me. They always had beautiful girls and lots of money. No one doing it the straight way had what they had at such a young age. They were normal people they were nice people but they had a dark side.
They inspired a lot of bad in me and they inspired a lot of good in me as of today. I'm not doing any more bullshit I'm finishing school and working my legit job. One is in jail for 12 more years and one is dead. Not to mention what they put their families through and innocent people as well.

Re: Crime doesn't pay.
I must say I understand as this story hits close to home with me. A few years back I had a 5 year trial and spend a shit load of money for a defence. I did some time and so did others around me. I look at pics of my family and me even 1 day before my raid and we were happy , yes I made a lot of money but I would trade it all back to get the family I had back then. Today it's all over, my family hates each other. We can't be in a room with each other for more then 20 mins without a fight. And the guilt I have kills me but I can't change it now as I just have to hope in years we can let it all go and get back.

He was the one that got caught with a bunch of Cocaine and some firearms. He got lucky to only get 12, if he was in Florida. That's armed trafficking, punishable by life. I know a few people doing life for that.

I know people in gangs whose parents are filthy rich. This guy is an IGD, and his dad is a multimillionaire. He's from Italy, and yes, he's closely related to the owners of Ferrari: LINK
This guy's dad is a really wealthy investor: LINK
People from all walks of life get involved with gangs and crime, regardless of family wealth. And yes, white people can be LK's: "The Latin Kings are mostly of Latino descent, with some Black, White, Asian and Middle Eastern members as well." SOURCE
I know so many people that had it made in life that got involved with crime and lost everything. It's just not worth it. But it'll be in one ear and out the other here. That's how it was for me 4 years ago.

Well he was sentenced to 15 I believe but he's been in for a few now. It's not something I brought up to often as I felt I was often the escape from a lot of the drama. He wasn't trafficking fire arms though just had them on him I don't think he got intent to sell or whatever you want to call it. It was also in cook county which is the worst county in the country. I heard his family spent over 1 million on his defense but I don't know how true/possible that is.

He was expelled from 3 highschools. He went to some extreme behavioral camp in highschool at one point where they lived secluded in the mountains. I know he had to be escorted all the way there by force. He just loved to act out. He wasn't even a bad brother or anything he was very generous and nice.

Re: Crime doesn't pay.
Crime pays for those who get away with it.
Those that get caught, pay for those that get away.
It's a gamble, some win and some lose.

More like faggot ass rich kids that want to act tough and be like the rappers in the BET videos. And you seem to think there are lots of white members in the Latin Kings, but I don't think that makes sense. If you have that much money you don't have to be some degenerate crack dealer to make money.

Interesting you'd spell your supposed friend's name two different ways.

yes, it is strange how even those children who come from seemingly perfect families who have everything they need manage to fuck it up.

I'm sorry that had to happen to people you care about, man. Sometimes, it's funny the way things work out in life. Most of the time, it's heartbreaking.

It's not the crime that's the problem, it's the prison time.
I've never heard of anyone say, "Man it's killing me... I can't seem to stop making all this money!"

That's because at that point the thought process should be, "Man, it's killing me. I can't seem to stop thinking about how I'm destroying so many people lives and costing everyone so much money trying to get me off of the street." Like the OP's story points out, it's not just about you. You'll hurt everyone around you, and society as a whole.
