Flexpay on QVC with prepaid card

Does anyone know if you can use a prepaid card to purchase an item using flexpay on sites like QVC, HSN, etc.

Like say get a $1000 flatscreen on 5 payments of $250 and only load enough money for the first payment. Seems like a pretty good profit margin if it will work.

As in legal trouble? I couldn't imagine it going much further than a debt collector, civil court. Oh well, I know someone who is going to try this, we will see what happens.

Not with QVC I tried it and the order went through but one of there departments called me 2 days later before it shipped and said that they had to cancel my order because they didn't take netspend cards even though mine was a netspend premier card. I know they used to because I have a friend who used his walmart money card to order and got a tv. He didn't rip them off and made all the payments but he can't order with it through QVC anymore. I'm guessing loads of people have ripped them off. I'm going to try and order something tonight with flex pay through HSN with my netspend premier and see what happens. O and when QVC cancelled my order it took several days for my funds to be released back to my card and I had to call and speak to many QVC supervisors and netspend supervisors to get it released quicker. It was a mess. SO DON'T TRY TO ORDER FROM QVC!!!!!!!!!!

Yes you can...I've been ordering things from QVC since April of 2011. I got a 60 inch home theater tv, dell mini notebook and only paid one time. They say i couldn't shop on their site anymore because of this but in Dec i ordered a wii and January a total gym...all went through. I use the greendot visa or master cards. I have never tried with a netspend. Also just oredered a upholstery cleaner from HSN. I never use the same card when doing this.

do you get in trouble with greendot since you use a SSN with it? does it cause an overdraft or just decline? I think my friend Joe suggested maybe sending something within that zip code so if the credit card asks you can say you returned it and just give them the tracking number.

I know my friend Joe ordered things like p90x and those fitness things from infomercials for just 1 payment, makes it really good deal when it's just 1 payment of $29.95. Some of those trial things online where you just pay shipping works too, although they are catching on to giftcards. you get a bill or sent to a collection agency but he never got in legal trouble.

can you still use the cards in the redbox machines?

It might cause you some trouble but couldn't some one order something with a debt or credit card,then a few week later report their card lost. Then the person is issued a new card with a different number.

Thats definitely doable, but its another scam entirely. Avoid sending to your billing address though and just alert your card company/store, no cops.

anymore info on this? anyone have a friend that does this? some people said they go to jail or court others say you just get sent to collections?? can SWIY use a drop ship address? wouldn't the card just decline if there wasn't enough on it?

I've noticed that a lot of the comments here on Zoklet seem to be posted by people who seek to curb crime and dissuade people from trying things they describe here. My guess is that the Police or others who wish to curb activities post false information here to discourage kids not to try things that would work.

No LAW is broken by not making payments to QVC or anyone else for that matter. It's not illegal to owe money and refuse to pay it. If you call your debit card in LOST there is no way to PROVE you didn't lose it. People lose cards all the time. The bank cannot give QVC or anyone else your new card number. Only the card holder can provide this information.

Sure, you owe QVC the remaining payments. Sure you "should" pay them but there is no LAW that says you have to pay any debt you owe to anyone.

Your not Stealing or Shoplifting from QVC. Your simply not paying the DEBT you owe to QVC. Big Difference.

There is a common misconception in America that if you owe payments then you can go to jail or get into legal trouble. This is 100% False. You cannot get into any LEGAL trouble for not paying a bill or debt you owe.

Depending on the size of the item.....Do you think theyll send you to collections and harrass you? I would doubt they would for something like $300, but $1500 perhaps.

Anyone who tried this know what debits work? And did their credit score get dinged?

i was sent to collections for $50 so dont assume...

it would work 99% but the only downside is they could do an aut and capture on the card if its prepaid to make sure it has the full amount of the item. but maybe not

Just wanted to update this with new information.

I have a friend who tried this with his real bank account and debit card.

He called his debit card in lost/stolen after the first payment was made and the item arrived.

The bank issued him a new debit card with a new number but QVC somehow contacted the bank and got them to process the next payment due on the new debit card number.

For a while he didn't put any money into the bank account but then he deposited about $300 and QVC had placed some type of hold with the bank where they immediately paid QVC the 2nd payment that was due.

The bank sent a letter to my friend describing that they had authorized the payment on card #xxxxx because QVC had re-occuring payments or something like that.

SO, the lesson here is you have to CLOSE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT out if you use your real debit card.

If you can get QVC to accept a Pre-Paid card that would be MUCH better than using a real bank account.

I tried the same thing with a prepaid credit card once, but a few days before the product shipped..the payment was put on hold or something and had to call to get it released. I told them I was using a prepaid and the lady said..."aahh...now i see." So you will need to use something other than a prepad.
