You might as well just throw all of your change in a jar. If you're putting the other coins away, it'll cost you no extra time to put the pennies in as well, and they add up over time. Just take them to the bank and get them exchanged for bigger bills .

With Bank of America I was in their "keep the change" program. Every transaction with my checking account that would have resulted in change if I had paid with cash money, would have that change transferred from my checking account to my savings account.

Stupid Americans. Thanks to people like you, I make at least 20$ a month picking up pennies and saving them from change given. If you count nickels, dimes, and quarters too, I make at least 300$ per month. I shit you not.

No, I don't coinstar that shit. They commission you, and you lose most of it. I take half an hour in a day to package them with papers obtained at any local bank for free.

Then I typically use the spare money to purchase an ounce of medical marijuana, or put it in the bank until I've smoked the last ounce I still have from 3 months ago, which I haven't finished yet despite being blazed out of my skull 24/7.

This is all thanks to my father who grew up in poverty, and became rich later in life. He showed me the real value of spare change and coins, and the stupidity of throwing away money. Even if it means using your energy and bending down to pick up a mere penny, it adds up more quickly than you think.

So you're saying you pick up 2000 pennies a month? Firstly I don't think anyone could find 2000 pennies without actively looking for them, and even if there somehow magically happened to be 2000 pennies laying in your path, I don't buy that you'd be making much more than minimum wage in time spent picking them up plus turning them into bills.

On a good month, I can obtain almost 20$ worth of pennies which I find in various places (lots around gas stations or convenient stores) and ones that I save from spare change given by cashiers. You'd be surprised.

Except it's a lot more than that. Being a penny pincher gets me an extra few hundred bucks a year. That's a lot of beer money, and considering I'm a college student I need all I can get.
