Yeah when Starcraft 2 came out with no LAN and all that internet-required shit, I thought it was stupid. I mean... shitty game devs did all that SOPA type shit. I thought Blizzard was cool.

Anyways... Diablo 3 comes out, and there's more similar bullshit. Like, EA level bullshit. Requiring internet.. to play single player, real life money, shit like that.

Ironically I pirated Starcraft 2 and can play single player plus anything (expect online) WITHOUT an internet connection, while somebody who actually paid for it gets an inferior experience. At worst I could buy the damn game and get everything, best of both words.

Well when a company starts to care about money more than making games for the hell of it (or at least, a shitty bigger soulless company takes them over, *cough* vivendi), then it doesn't matter if you make shit games, so longs as you can make enough money from the punters and the lowest common denominator and anybody else who at least *buys* it, then hey, the CEO got his money and it's all good

Blizzard has been shit since StarCraft(+ Brood War) and Diablo 2 came out.

Sadly, it is the people who played the original games which want to play the new and improved game, and end up getting fucked with a C-grade game for a large sack of cash. Vivendi? What are you talking about. Activision merged with Blizzard. That's when things went totally to shit. Activision was all about shit like guitar hero. They care about moving lots of copies of whatever the safest marketable product is. After the merger they gimped WoW and made it even easier then started releasing shit like SC2 and Diablo 3.

Generals is different, but it's probably the best of the newer games at least with the expansion in terms of skirmish mode. It's pretty boss.

Some people had a problem with Brood war based on its story but it's nice to see you can see a game for the game, I do love a good story but if I'm spending hours and hours on the game loving it it doesn't matter if the story was on par removing dog waste from your back yard.

Diablo 3 is shit because the original team behind the franchise left blizzard long ago and had nothing to do with its production. They're now working on Torchlight 2 which will hopefully be an awesome game. Blizzard is gonna crash and burn unless their Titan Project turns out to be something truly epic.

Aww jesus, bro, that game is great. It's very customizable, so the game can be exactly what you want it to be within reasonable limitations and your style of play WILL be accomodated.

Your ships? Design that roller. Are you closest races acting like a warmongering assholes and your economy not capable of taking constant hits from building new ships? Better pile on the armour. Have the resources and expertise to churn out constant damage dealers? Make a glass cannon that will shred through anything in it's way before they can strike back. If they do strike back, you're thoroughly fucked, though.

There's also a pretty cool tech tree (not like in Civ or Age Of Empires games, where it's just advance to A, Advance to B, Advance to C, all the advancements being greater than the previous ones and therefore there are no sacrifices to be made)) and your choices in it are also linked to your other choices, so if you're keen on being a dumb fuck and advance your economic modelling tech while your people are starving on a shithole planet, your empire will come to a riot-filled shitty standstill. On the other hand, you could choose a smart, industrious race who can handle their own economics while you advance terraforming and make better planets from them, you'll have a decent time. Again, it's all up to you.

tl;dr, it's a great game and one that deserves more attention.

EDIT: I'd recommend torrenting this one, too. I've only played it for a couple of hours and I'm not exactly amazing at it, but it's not a game that deserves the 30-35 bucks they're asking for it (in my own opinion). I plan on buying it legit at a lower price.

SC2 doesn't have the same feel. It's not as much of a RTS game, in the same way WC3 is different from WC2.

all hope lies with guildwars 2.. on a serious note I was OH so close to clicking that continue button after filling out credit info . I checked zoklet and other sites and the game seemed like shit , I played diablo 2 and that was pretty much the best.
