3m film on glass window

Can you tell just by looking or feeling if a glass window has this protective film on it or not?

I know it sounds gross, but if you lick the glass and it has a metallic taste, then it does have 3m protective film. This is the only method I've heard of.

Normally NO- but all the test videos show people trying to break it with a hammer... Why not a knife or razor? Hammer for the glass and a sharp edge for the plastic film. I mean thats what they use to cut it anyways.
