Metro 2033
I just picked up this game, and didn't really know what to expect.
Its a FPS Survival Horror type game and its pretty damn cool!
Ill admit certain parts have made me jump, and the dark, damp, run down metro subway environment really helps keep the game tense!
I would recommend this little gem if you're into that sort of thing

I thought it was pretty mediocre. Worth a play, but I immediately sold it back to GameStop after beating it.

Pretty much this, though it's still a very enjoyable game. The goddamn librarians are bastards though.
Can't wait for Last Light. Currently replaying STALKER SoC with mods for the 8th time. Same with Call of Pripyat (I Work Alone makes it fucking BEAUTIFUL).
Actually, I just went through and killed every living thing in the Duty base in SoC on Master without dying. The upgraded Desert Eagle that fires rifle rounds is overkill.
Has anyone successfully finished Clear Sky? Even with Complete mod on and the game fully updated, whenever I enter Limansk (The place after you lower the bridge with the merc squad you rescue), it crashes constantly. And my saves don't work and crash if I load them from that area. Running Windows 7 x64 with GTX460 O.C.'d to 850 Mhz core and 12GB RAM. Don't think hardware is a problem, I get over 100 frames usually.
You'd think they'd be able to make it stop being glitchy as fuck all the time after this long.

Complete is for faggots. It makes the game easier.
Quote:
All weapons have their accuracy increased 10-20%
- All damage decreased by few percents.
- Weight limit increased by 10kg, maximum being 70kg. In vanilla the Exo-suit enabled up to 80kg!
- Limits NPC's eye sight distance so they can't spot you from beyond ~100 meters. =You see them always first. Said to remove enemies skill to spot you from"unrealistic distances".
- Sound radius of knife and other critical sounds such as falling dead bodies, grass, and footsteps greatly reduced
- Reduced the sound distance of death cries
- Repair Kit - A special item to the game that allows you to repair weapons and armors out in the Zone. Can be purchased or found. (Not necessarily a bad thing, but I digress)
- The bar trader and Screw now sell weapons and armor repair services.
- Elite Nightvision - Black & white night vision based on the psy_antenna postprocess effect. Replaces the original UV-based blue NV, and lets you see perfectly in the darkness, be there light sources or not.
- The old, “green” night vision has much less noise and blur. NVs don't emit any audio noise anymore. (can't be heard by NPCs/mutants)
- scientific suits with 90% rad protection now feature an anti-rad injection system.
- bandages auto-apply at 10% health.
- enabled a tracer effect for armor-piercing bullets, making them visually distinguishable when use
- allows looting cash from bodies (CS & CoP only)
- You can BRIBE hostile factions to leave you alone.

Have you bought it or borrowed it?
OP, sick game, I loved metro so much I bought it twice.
Once you complete it replay on ranger hardcore mode, and try to get the second ending. That IS a challenge.
EDIT: Shit, I forgot about last light, me and a friend were talking about how awesome it is you can wipe the shit off your gasmask ingame. And everyone else was looking at us like we were a pair of retards.

Re: Metro 2033
I thought it was okay..had a lot of really innovative features but I felt completely fucked the game..like the gasmasks mainly. So fucking annoying playing with a cracked visor, holy shit
It sure is pretty though, and pretty immersive. And the environment is fucking amazing, I wish it was a bit more open ended though.

AMK? What is this?
I've been playing through CoP lately with Misery and Redux, looking for something similar for SoC. I want DIFFICULTY!

Re: Metro 2033
the complete mod for CoP is much more half-ass than the SoC one. The SoC complete mod really is a nice work of art, but in CoP its meh.
i also always crash when going from region to region in CoP, i have to load the autosave.

You might want to give swartz mod a try after you finish those, I've had a lot of fun with it.
AMK is one of the best stalker mods. It acts as a base for many other mods such as the ever popular Russian Narodnaya Sloyanka (People soup). It adds increased difficulty, artifact transmutations, a PDA chat system that lets the AI communicated to each other, advertise items to sell and much more.
http://www.somethingfornobody.com/20...modding-guide/
This guide has a lot of how tos for various stalker mods including AMK.
If you want a bigger arsenal you can download the Sidorvich edition which already adds in arsenal and the English translation. http://www.mediafire.com/?4e7m9f76eo5v3id
And for you faggots that keep recommending complete read my first post and know that you played stalker baby mode.

Re: Metro 2033
The major thing I didn't like about it was that it wasn't open ended. It would have been awesome if you could do missions for the Nazis and Communists and shit. Like build your own story kinda.

I own the game and I like it. I never finished it (just don't have the time with school) though. The only thing I didn't like was that the aiming was hard as shit (that or I'm just terrible at it)

Anyone else like the fact that when you throw knives at enemies, it only damages or kills them if you hit unarmoured areas?

Alright, ever since you posted this I've been playing AMK merged with Complete's graphic enhancements, Lurk's animations, and a few other graphic enhancements.
I really feel like it's too easy, I found so many artifacts that by the time I got to 100 Rad's bar I had over 100,000 R. The most challenging thing is the sheer number of mutants, there were 4 controllers and 3 pseudogiants in the area where you find and escort the scientist dude to Yantar and take out Wolfhound. Everyone was dead by the time I got there except scientist man.
When I first entered Dark Valley and came across the duty member who asks for help, we both got raped by a herd of blind dogs, pseudodogs and hamsters. I took a screenshot and counted: 15 blind dogs, 5 pseudodogs and an obscene amount of hamsters. Pretty much went back later with 1,000 rounds of 5.56 and my SIG, stood ontop of a rock and took them all out. Dutyman was fucked though.
My favorite part though is the stalker news network.
Though I stopped playing as I'm kinda stuck. I'm in the cordon, and even if I manage to run to the garbage the players head view will wobble and make creepy sounds, like it does in one of the labs (Similar to Psy-Emissions). Then the game just freezes and crashes, I don't think I have any saves before it started happening.
I'll check out Swartz though, I'm about done with Redux on Call of Pripyat.

Yes. It actually adds some skill to the knife, I love it. Anyone try doing the mission where you hide under the cart and come out in a nazi warzone stealthily?

It is so hard to stealth that mission, I always try to save those reds who are held captive and that fucks it up otherwise my stealth suit gets me through well enough.

Ah, that was never a problem for me (You know you can crawl up and climb on the airvents above them, right?). It was always the near-beginning part, right after you watch the "deserter" get executed. There's a man patrolling and a shitton of people there, took me a while to sneak up on the guy being executed to learn about the alternate route.
Fucking epic cutscene after you're caught though.

(Yeah I knew that, I always fall)
I always saved that guy as well, have you ever got the good ending? I only discovered that a few months back.

No, sadly. There's some pretty odd things on the list that gets you 'points' towards the good ending, I was pretty sure I did most of them too.
...You can save the guy that's going to be executed!?

It's good, I thought that the ranger ending was the only one.
If we are thinking about the same guy then yes, I do kill the guy afterwards though considering he is supposed to be a fascist operative.

Lurk's animations and complete's graphics are known to make it less stable. Personally, I use absolute nature and structure texture packs, shaders max and Stalker Weather Overhaul with amk. SWO, especially the newest version which I think is 3, can add some bugs.
Did you by chance have the rare or random rare loot settings on? That makes it a fuckton easier and you find a shitton of rare artifacts.
The bug you are having has to do with the sound file used for the controller noises, I remember reading somewhere on how to fix it. Will edit this post later if I find it.
With stalker it's best to have multiple saves as crashes can be caused by massive amounts of mutants and stuff like the sound bug you experienced. With multiple saves you can reload to earlier spots and try to avoid the crash from happening.

I did change the loot settings, but it's set to random, not rare or rare random. I love the stalker news network, I wonder if anyone's made a standalone version of it. I'd love to combine it with a few other mods or find a version of it for clear skies/call of pripyat.
Also, are shitloads of mutants normal? I got raped a few times along with the duty member you find the first time you enter the dark valley. Everything seemed cool, until a heard of blind dogs, hamsters, and pseudo dogs attacked. I took a screenshot and counted over 20 blind dogs, 7 pseudo dogs, and an unknown number of hamsters. I ended up going back with 1,000 rounds of 5.56 and climbed a rock for a few minutes.
I can't seem to get past this bug though. I get the shakes like there's psy emissions in the cordon, and after a few minutes it just crashes. Sometimes I can make it to the garbage, but at best it crashes after a minute.
Going to try a really old save, it happened after entering cordon after the lab when you have to take the backroads into cordon.

Great game, but the best thing about it was the realistic, real time watch. Damn, I love details like that shit.

Yes in AMK the mutant spawns are increased, however Dark Valley is known to be one of the way more hectic areas another bad place is the Wild Territory. You will often find pseudogiants and snorks nearly taking over the building the lab is in. I've had trouble in these areas before but I made it through. Early saves and such can help you but that first encounter with the Duty guy sucks ass in AMK because you have to follow him and I too encountered a shitton of mutants like you did. Herds of dogs and rats will make you bleed to death fast. Shotguns.
For the controller noise problem you are having, you can just try to kill the controller fast and hope the noise disappears or you can use this http://pastebin.com/9iZmEfym it's kind of like cheating imo but if you've faced controllers before it doesn't really take away the experience. It's a function that will kill all the live controllers in an area and take away their noise which tends to crash the game. I believe there is another fix but I'm having trouble finding it.
If you are on a save that currently has that noise and you've already killed the controller responsible for it then you will probably have to reload an earlier save before you killed it. Also I believe changing areas will get rid of the noise, if you can make it to the level changers without it crashing I suppose

Oh man, wild territory kicked my ass. 4 pseudo giants among lots of controllers.
I'm fairly sure the noise problem happened without encountering a controller, and switching areas does nothing to prevent the crash, happens anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes after I load the save. I'm thinking it's some mutant/npc killing/preforming an action that I can't see that triggers it due to the random time, but I'll try the fix, thanks.
