Have you ever bought a game only for the soundtrack?
I recently bought FFX-2 for the PS2. I have no intention of playing it as I don't have the time anymore, yet the menu theme when you start it up brings back nice, warm nostalgia and memories of when I did.
I know I could have just watched it on Youtube but that would have detracted from the experience.

Guilty Gear.
I listen to this when I think about tornadoes smashing through homes.

There's a game I had for psx, don't remember the name though. It was all underwater and you piloted a submarine type vehicle and shot projectiles at other vehicles. Like Twisted Metal, but underwater. The whole reason I bought it was for the badass White Zombie songs on the soundtrack. Turned out to be pretty decent though.

Played vice city for the soundtrack. Without the soundtrack it's an average game.

Never brought a game merely for the soundtrack, but some games do have fantastic sound design and scores. Metal Gear Solid games are famous for this; recently released, Max Payne 3 had an excellent soundtrack; Sonic Mayhem's soundtrack complimented the brutal and intense atmosphere of Quake II; I could go on...

Re: Have you ever bought a game only for the soundtrack?
I have to say I've enjoyed many sound tracks, but it's never had me actually buy a game. If it has a terrible sound track but decent/good game play, I'd just turn it down (leave sound effects up though) and play my own music during it.
I did enjoy Silent Hill soundtrack though.

Nah, but it's been a big plus to certain games.
Tony Hawk had a larger effect than I usually care to admit on my musical taste growing up.

I fucking love the music in Castlevania. I havent played all of them, like the portable ones or the newest one, but the ones I have played kick ass.
I cant say I ever bought a game for just the soundtrack alone, but if 'Super Castlevania 4' on the SNES ever released a soundtrack, I would pick that bastard up in a heartbeat. What I do love about that game is that they do have a feature in the options that allows you to listen to the music. I would put the game in just to hear its epic 16-bitness of kickass-ary.
The most epic (the build up to 1:30, fuckin nice):

Red Dead Redemptions soundtrack was surprisingly good, and The Darkness soundtrack was all done by Mike Patton, so I was a fan.
