The people do rule. Through me. My army is the most common profession for strong men. If they all suddenly decided they did not want me for a king, there would be little I could do to stop them from killing and replacing me.

The key to remaining in power is to protect your people and give them naught for cause to revolt. As king I am privileged to many pleasures the commoners are not, however I must think of them as mine own children and see that their basic needs are always met, lest they dispose me. Of course fear is also a powerful motivator, but I maintain my rule by means of fear and love.

Also, I grant my people the freedom to leave my kingdom if they so choose. Very few leave. Many want to join and pledge fealty. I must be doing something right.

I have risen. I had much work to do today. I cannot elaborate on specifics, but I intend to make my kingdom much wealthier before my time is at an end. Such a daunting task requires much time and planning. I was with my war council for most of the day.
