Shit, the government tortures and murders people all the time but nobody knows it and those that do either don't believe it or don't give a shit. But god help us if someone kills a wild animal. When you get down to it, peoples' priorities are all fucked up. Humans love having a big daddy to take care of things for them, which is why most humans deserve to be ruled under a monarchy. The government can torture and rape little children, kidnap and "neutralize" citizens, test biological weapons on soldiers, and they can even declassify all their crimes, and not a single mention of it in the media. Even when people know about it, they are programmed to not believe it. They have their car and they live a few blocks from the grocery store, so who gives a fuck, right?

i think that wildlife in general has a lot more right to live than much of humanity.

yes i eat meat, and no i don't feel bad about killing an animal for food with my own hands, but in terms of the bigger picture, animals are not capable of evil or cruelty - only we are. look at what humanity is doing to the planet, and to itself! why do we feel that we're so much more worthy in our own existences?

i get the feeling that it's a sin against the universe to knowingly destroy the natural world, and it's one we're all guilty of. i'll pay my dues before i go, though.

Because of the abrahamic religions mostly. They have been deluding people for thousands of years with the whole "man created in likeness of God" thing, and God's granted right to humans to "dominate, exploit, and subdue the natural world for all its resources."

In further support of this, if you were to look at all the other cultures not ruled by these religions, such as the ancient Egyptians and native Americans, you will find they were quite peaceful and respectful of life, the environment, and each other (FYI, Egyptian jew slavery was a completely fabricated lie started by jews).
