"the dictator" kind of sucked

i popped 40 mg of diazepam that i washed down with 24 oz of pussy coors light an hour until "the dictator" started -- and i must say -- that movie, in my opinion, was just an, "OKAY".

i thought this movie was going to be full of publicity stunts like sacha is known for, but no -- this was just a flat out 100% directed movie... and it wasn't that wonderful.

there were a few funny parts, without a doubt -- but nothing too unique; it seemed rushed.

so in other words, this movie sucked.

I was thinking of seeing it - but, you confirmed what I already suspected. Sorry you didn't enjoy yourself a whole lot though, man.

For what it's worth - one time my friends and I got all fucked up on benzos and went to the theater after picking a movie out from the local paper. We stumbled in probably reeking of weed and alcohol - and we all went up to the ticket counter and asked for 5 tickets for National Lampoons whatever the fuck.

The guy stared at us for a second - turned around to look at the movie signs and was just like :

"That...that's not playing here."

We face palmed and made the rush decision to see "Touristas" since that was all that was playing at that time. That movie totally blew also. Big load of shit.

But, yeah - anyway, how many stars out of 10 would you give it? Was it an okay as in "not bad"? Or was it like a "low" okay?

meh -- i'd give it a 6 out of 10... it wasn't horrific... it just didn't meet the standards i was expecting... also -- the movie seemed very rushed.

Looked like rubbish - I've never seen bruno or Ali-G. The humor just doesn't appeal to me and didn't back when it was popular and I was the younger target audience.

That is a TS though, I was talking about the DVD russian, it comes out much earlier then the US retail release...

The screens on the TS dont look bad though, it is watchable, the audio is usually bad on those though

I disagree with the first sentence, but you're dead on with the second.

The Dictator was meh. About the Anchorman quality. Had a few laughs, but nothing special. The pacing hurt it more than anything, as most of the really funny bits were too short and the barely funny bits were way too long. I got the impression that better editing could have made it A LOT better, but it still wouldn't have been anything near the brilliance I expect from Cohen.

I thought Borat was probably the funniest movie i had ever seen when i saw it in theaters. Not saying it's the greatest comedy of all time, but it appealed perfectly to my sense of humor, from the very beginning with that ridiculous music all the way through. That shit was fucking hilarious to me, and still is. I haven't seen Bruno or the Dictator, but i've heard they're not quite as good. I dunno, i'll probably still check them out at some point but i can't see them living up to the hilarity of borat.
