Adderall + 5-HTP

Anybody have experience with this combo?

From an erowid report and some bluelight discussion it sounds marvelous. I'm crashing with a buddy tonight and he wants to play Warhammer, which simply makes my eyes glaze over from sheer boredom and disinterest. I'll be trying the combination to see if it makes the night bearable, if not quite a bit of fun.

20 mg dextroamphetamine + 50 mg 5-hydroxytryptamine

And redosing after ~2.5 hours, I'll let you guys know how it turns out in the morning

Never tried adderall and 5-HTP, but 4-FA and 5-HTP is a nice combo. I doubt there's a risk of serotonin syndrome, because 4-FA releases more serotonin than adderall and that combo never hurt me. (350mg of 4-FA (very high tolerance) and 200mg of 5-htp)

It never really made much of a difference to me, I'm prescribed Adderall and take it every now and then to get work done, I used to take 5-HTP as well daily. I never really noticed any difference on the days I did and didn't take 5-HTP. Maaaybe an easier comedown, but really hard to say. I'm interested in what others have to say about this combo though.

5-HTP helped a bit with 4-FA comedowns. (It doesn't have a comedown after one use, but try using it to stay up for 5 days until you run out, fall asleep, and wake up the next day feeling like a 90 year old woman with parkinson's who just got hit by a truck.)

Didn't help the 0 energy/motivation but it made the shitty feelings go away. But again, 4-FA is more serotonin based so it probably won't help as much with adderall.

Good to know. Yeah, I have very limited use with 4-FA, but the use I have had I experienced no comedown. I never really felt like bingeing on it, wasn't euphoric enough for me to want to redose.

It stopped being euphoric by day 2. After that it just kept me awake.

I can't see the 5-HTP doing to much to improve the high, but I've used 5-HTP to help me sleep after a slew of different stims.

That's exactly why it's 5-HTP and not 5-HT.

The comedown was still awful, but I felt mentally alive, more confident and happier.

I've taken 750 mg to a 1 g of 5-HTP over the past 24 hours, and I just took another 100 mg with 120 mg of vitamin B6, which I understand to improve the conversion to serotonin and the excretion of the excess. I'm also drinking some green tea (decaf) because the antioxidants are said to enhance the effects of both 5-HTP and L-DOPA, the latter of which I do not have currently but should consider getting into my system in the near future.

Consumed 3 mg of melatonin about 2.5 hours ago, and the 100 mg 5-HTP with 120 mg B6 went down the hatch a 1/2 hour ago. I also had a cup of green tea, and this herbal brew, but I doubt the latter will have much interaction with the 5-HTP considering the small amount of each ingredient.

Licorice Root, Spearmint Leaf, Chamomile Flower, Skullcap Leaf, Cardamom Seed, Cinnamon Bark, St. John’s Wort Leaf and Flower, Rose Hip, Raspberry Leaf, English Lavender Flower, Stevia Leaf, Passion Flower Extract, Valerian Root Extract

In hindsight, I probably should've done more reading... This post is most likely an attempt to convey some level of worry for my personal health; I've had serotonin syndrome before and it was quite terrifying. Still, it's unlikely there will be a serious reaction, if even a noticeable one.

Will return with any notable results.

EDIT: Yes, I have a very fucking hard time getting to sleep.

Correct. 5-HT does not cross the BBB. Luckily, 5-HTP does which is then converted to 5-HT once it has already passed the BBB. Similar to how l-dopa works.

This. If you get the orange IR tablets the drip tastes like fucking candy too. I have NO amph tolerance, so I break a 20mg in half, snort 10 of it in 2 baby lines, and eat the other half and feel pretty great all day long. Though I don't really get much recreational value from adderall, except a bit of euphoria that mostly comes, I think, from actually being able to put one thought after another in proper goddamn order.

Oh, that, and antioxidants won't potentiate amphetamine. Quite the opposite actually.

I only have the 10 mg blue tabs left over from a prescription I can't get anymore

Last time I snorted those, it clogged up my nose and I was just absorbing tons of amphetamine for the next day. I felt like absolute shit.

I don't really want it, it's just a possibility in case I need a dopamine precursor. Still I doubt that I would need one, but according to my source taking 5-HTP for several days consecutively may decrease dopamine production.

Well, I've heard of L-Tyrosine being great for amphetamine withdrawals as it's a precursor dopamine and norepinephrine. But if you want to try L-Dopa, get Sinemet. It's L-Dopa and Carbidopa, the latter causes the l-dopa to be released in to your CNS and not your PNS.

Sinemet = Parkinsons med, rx only, but you can probably get it online.
