You've got us confused with Puerto Rico, brah. Your average African American is a griffe, or multi generational mulatto, that is, majority sub Saharan African (roughly 75-80%, usually Mandinka, Igbo or Yoruba) and the rest Northwestern European (English, Scottish, French, Welsh, Irish) in ancestry. African Americans on average are a bunch of past admixed biracial and triracial mutts with majority black ancestry, not first generation mulattoes. A quadroon is someone who is 1/4 black and a mulatto is someone who has one fully black and one fully white parent, which is pretty hard to find in America, unless you're like Obama who has a black parent from Africa and a white parent from Kansas with recent immigrant ancestry. Most African American non black ancestry comes from the mid 1800s and fence jumping slaveowners, and if you look at pictures of slaves from that time they were pitch black, fresh out of Africa with no admixture. The slaveowners fucked the slave women and made what they called "high yellows", and those "high yellows" intermarried with those who weren't mixed and produced today's African Americans. Some had Native admixture and instead of "high yellows" you got "high browns".

Puerto Ricans are not quadroons.

It's more like 15-20%, 25% is one grandparent who was European. Puerto Ricans can be anything, I lived in New York City where there are a bunch of Ricans and they can range in appearance from European looking to African or Taino looking. Same with Dominicans and Cubans. Most are a blend of two or all the three groups though, which basically means that deciding what they can look like is like rolling dice. You can get someone with really dark skin like an African American's and straight/wavy hair, or a really light skinned person with curly hair.
