Re: what is your favorite musical era?
Early 90s. Best house music and D&B around that time.
80s is overrated, 70s was good.

Re: what is your favorite musical era?
I think I like anything that involves lots of dicking around on a Fender Rhodes.
So, 70s jazz-funk and post-bop.

no, it doesn't mean there's good music everywhere. But when only 100 people have the ability to produce music, there can never be as much good music as when 10000 people have that same ability. These days you can produce with a computer instead of an expensive production studio and sure, a lot it is fruityloops junk but denying it all based on that would be foolish.

I guess you could say the 'readily available-ness' has almost held steady- back in the 50's pop was often actually real, composed music and it got all the attention. These days pop is garbage, but since it's shoved down our throats constantly a lot of effort is needed to really find that gold.
Today's gold may be more readily available to us, as avid internet adventurers, but as a whole Rolf might be right in that most people get trapped in MSM junk.

can't believe i actually agree with you on something. altho the late 80s acid house was really my fave.
i'm a big fan of most 70s/80s/90s music now. i love the experimentation and all the new sounds that came out the 70s. bowie, sex pistols, bolan, blondie to name a few. the new wave/romantics era of the 80s was awesome. depeche mode, smiths, morrisey, simple minds, cure, eurythmics, way too many to name tbh. the 90s was the height of MTV and the music video imo. the technology had come on to the point where awesome effects could be used and there were some amazing video directors like chris cunningham and jarvis cocker doing some pretty sick stuff with artists like aphex twin, nightmares on wax and warp records. i really started to see the music video as an art form in its own right during this era. not to mention it was the time of some great bands like radiohead, placebo, the cranberries, oasis, primal scream, REM, garbage, stone roses, the charlatans, blur, pulp, and many more.
it all spiraled pretty much downhill since then tho imo

Re: what is your favorite musical era?
1990's were the best. Nirvana, Third Eye Blind, Sublime, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains.

Re: what is your favorite musical era?
I like everything from forties big band stuff to PatsyC line to 50s doo-wop, but msotly listen to sixties rock. Right now, I have the best of Earth, Wind and Fire in my car's cassette player.
For serious stuff, mostly Mozart.
