I remember fighting my dark self in my dreams.
I always lose.
Mostly because i can hardly throw a decent punch, i always hit in slow-mo, my shadow does not.

I summoned a gun once, but so did my shadow. Guess who got shot
It was a rather unpleasant experience, getting shot that is.
Since that, i've never used weapons when i encountered myself.

I always lose...

To me, this suggests that i have yet to reach my full potential.

I learned to control my anger/aggression when I was younger and promptly buried it. Now I realize this was a poor, blunt form of control. Took time before I realized that I actually needed it.

Don't numb yourself.

The Shadow is a Jungian archetype for the part of you that is repressed. Your primal urges are kept buried within, and this aspect of your psyche exists as a fragment of your former self that was lost to social conditioning, it's every thought you'd rather not express because you've been taught that your thinking is impure, inherently flawed and all-around bad. Read some of C.G. Jung's work, and in particular Freud's Totem and Taboo; it can really open you up to a deeper understanding of the self.

Something about "collective (un)consciousness". It's just another thing to swing the vote in favour of proving a god, really.

Never take the word of a psychologist seriously.

Jung was very interested in the occult, it wouldn't be surprising if a spiritual perspective might have influenced some of his ideas. But a more practical definition of the collective unconscious would be that certain ideas and symbols appear as motifs in the psyche, and are even universal to our condition as we describe it. Jung merely put these ideas into form which the psychiatric community of the time would appreciate.

I believe the theory of God's mind containing us, as thoughts, is referred to in many different ways, but that question is a fairly vague way to put it. Monotheism would say that we are all in the mind of one god. Pantheism suggests we are all in God's mind and God is in all of us.

No, there are no dark entities inside you. Although voices aren't common for everyone, they aren't necessarily bad. If they take over and bad things result, definitely a problem. Voices are often manifested by the subconscious to relay info between the conscious and subconscious. You can train to use these voices for your benefit.

Christianity is not the origin of this ideology, it is monotheistic and it would be blasphemous.

Monotheism = God makes everything
Pantheism = God is everything, and vice versa.

Christianity = we cannot touch the white light
Gnosticism / Hinduism / many occult systems = really want to touch that fucking light

You mean TV, radio, and the Internet?
In a way you're right. They manipulate people into thinking they should have a super model porn star wife, mansion, and an exotic sports car. When this doesn't pan out for the majority, you accept the world or become bitter. The better they market the lie, the less people accept the truth, and turn bitter.

You are correct sir.

Naw. While those might be symptomatic, I'm a hella crazy paranoid and thus have fast, drug-induced theories that exclude simple conclusions because well, that's boring.

No, I think that, well maybe not necessarily the government, but there is a group of people or intelligences that control or maintain machines which operate on wavelengths and induce certain electrical impulses in order to bring about the closest approximation to remotely manipulate our minds. Of course since the brain is extremely complex, I don't think this technology has been implemented to its fullest extent. What these (most likely entirely imaginary) machines do is allow a vast amount of suggestion in a short amount of time, which through sheer persistence (a perceptual DDOS, if you will) can manage to break through and have the desire effect. However I think most of the time it's simply too much bullshit at once so we kind of block it out but when we're emotionally or mentally weak we're much more suggestible.

Even if these machines don't yet exist, well, they probably will.

I know what you mean, at times in my life I've sat there and thought to myself "did I actually just think that? that's sick I must be insane". I have dark, disturbing thoughts, I've had sort of psychotic breaks over the course of my life. I've held a knife to my dads father, I've pushed my mom, I've threatened to kill my little brother. Many a time while I was living with my parents did they have to call the police because of them feeling me to be a danger to them at the time.

With that said, I feel that I have a darker side to me that I keep inside of me. I don't know where it is, but I often can feel that is there. Whether it is from my actions, my thoughts, dreams, I know that I have a darker side inside me. As much as that sucks I have come to the a sort of acceptance of this. As detrimental as it is, at this point in my life I don't think there is anything I could really do to stop it. I can try to keep the thoughts at bay but they always seem to find there way back.

I feel we all have a sort of Tyler Durden type of character inside us, it's just a matter of learning to control and accept this that is the hardest part.

Everyone does SOMETHING that makes them think this way. Its just the people that dictate our lives that makes those thoughts wrong.

Hmm well for us to have a darker version of ourselves takes the recognition of right and wrong. Right and wrong are completely irrelevant human constructions. I used to buy into the shadow idea (still do) but now that I think about it there is only one of us. We've been trained and repressed into submission by society (not saying its a bad thing - its got its benefits) but at the cost of acting in a morally acceptable way. Maybe deep down we know its all bullshit, I mean in reality life is cut throat. There are no rules, just like there is no honor among thieves.

edit:
Eat or be eaten, kill or be killed. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and trying to better myself. I've been the stereotypical weak and passive zokleteer, and without going to the opposite extreme (STD), I'm ready to fuck shit up.

I've done some horrible things. If I were in an environment that indulged or rewarded that side, I'd almost go as far as to say there are few limits to what it were capable of.

meh... that's just morbid curiosity... you need to learn to control/grow out of that shit ASAP finally to the point where those thoughts eventually diminish and understand that at the end of the day such thoughts are wrong in the long run, before you end up paying for it the rest of your life.

perfect example: 3 kids, 1 hammer.

That is the shadow. It's not so much an inherent part of you, as it is the result of cultural imprinting causing your consciousness to fragment itself. That selfish little brat doesn't exist anymore, his parents taught him the difference between right and wrong, and one of those gets pushed to the back of your mind, ignored like there was something wrong with you from the start. The shadow isn't meant express a distinction between right and wrong, but it is a result of this false dichotomy.

Don't numb yourself.
Too late.

I'm very slow to anger. Very few people can manage it. I rarely ever experience it.
