Re: what motivates men?
Unarguable genius. I am proud my post was a part of this.

Re: what motivates men?
In my experience, at the end of the day, the motivation must come from within is somebody is to get motivated enough to do *anything* well, and to stick to it for a while.

He'll already be aware of the problem. It probably didn't help to make a joke about his heavily pregnant gut. Maybe you could just make him more active. Ask if he wants to go swimming or something?
If you get a small, new bikini for the swimming trip and have sex with him soon afterwards, you'll immediately create an extremely positive association with swimming in his mind. Simple conditioning. Do it a few more times and he'll genuinely love swimming. Say you think that all the swimming has burnt off a few pounds after a month and he'll associate swimming and all that positive emotion with weight loss too. He should start swimming on his own after that. Trust me, it's foolproof.

This is genius. If he doesn't like swimming, find some other activity you can do together and reward him with sex in the end. Conditioning is the key.

Re: what motivates men?
Start working out daily
Tell him how much fun you are having working out daily and getting fit and socialising
Then ask him why doesn't he go out and do the same and have a hobby like that
If he says no, tease him by saying at least I'M BEING HEALTHY and looking after MY BODY, you damn well should too

Are you fit? Get him moving and away from processed foods. Daily exercise is the best solution, swimming is excellent because it's full body, low impact and uses a lot of energy without damaging your joints like running will.
Being fit feels better than food tastes, and once he loses a few pounds he'll probably recognize this.
