A lot of people probably aren't going to find this as interesting as I did. Basically analysis based on population and human migration patterns have lead scientist/mathematicians.. whatever.. to predict that by 2050, 75% of the worlds populations will live in cities. That alone blows my mind simply because it seems to be instinctive to stick with the herd to survive.. but from my perspective just makes these large populations of people susceptible to a mass attack.. But I suppose that's why we have counteractive technological system? Not to mention it'll hopefully free up nature to do what it does best "keep this planet and it's inhabitants alive"..
I'm rambling, but moving on.. Anyways.. So Rio has implemented this new power grid that upon detection of weather.. buildings going down.. etc.. It can reroute power elsewhere.. shut down gas lines.. subways.. and alert local hospitals immediately.. It seems very efficient given it's proven ability to do just that (the incident about the building collapsing in the article)..
On the flip side, if such an interface were ever to become susceptible to an outside attack.. It could cause chaos and jeopardize a whole city dependent on it's intelligent power grid. Let's face it, China has enough hackers at the ready that if they weren't intent on milking the U.S for every cent they can get.. would shut down our entire power grid and just take over. Maybe I'm exaggerating.. maybe not. Given the advances with stem cells and regeneration, the few posters who actually make enough of themselves to afford it might live long enough to find out.
