Ryu is really hard to beat

Started playing Street Fighter II on my emulator for old times sake.

Put it on hardest difficulty because I'm pretty much a pro. But GOD DAMN I can't beat RYU. This nigga will spam Hadoukens and everytime I get near him he'll dragon punch. I'm using Blanka and Ken.

using ken spam back the hadokens, try getting close. i know you can bypass some of the hadokens by dragon punching and doing that spinning kick. get close like right next to him and just low kick and dragon punch

Yeah I dragon punch through the hadoukens and try to get a low kick in but he keeps throwing me. Fucker.

I'm having mild success with M. Bison doing that move where he jumps on their head, I'm going to keep trying that.

UPDATE: I gave up after 2 hours of getting boned by Ryu. I used pretty much every character except Balrog. Fuck it I'll try again today probably

Came in to say something similar to this. Just learn how to bounce off the wall and land close enough to do that throw down move she has up close if you are having so much difficulty disposing of Ryu.

She also has that air stomp move that you can pull off if the opponent tries to pull something as she comes back down to the ground.

This thread has the worst advice ever. Of all time. Dragon Punching over hadoukens leaves you super open and using the Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku kick will get you nailed with hadoukens. Personally, I'd use dhalsim to Yoga Spear down at him from mid-air, buthe'll probably Shoryuken you out of that.

But the best way of beating all that is to either use

Chun Li and use her midair Down + Medium Kick stomp

or M Bison's headstomp, which you can charge by holding down and back. As soon as he hadoukens, start the headstomp. You'll jump the hadouken easily and hit him. While you're IN THE AIR, make sure you do NOT use the follow-up attack, because you'll get either blocked and shoryuken'd or thrown. Instead, Just Hold BACK on the Dpad and charge your Pinwheel Kick and activate it just as you hit the ground. Always use the longest version, so if you get blocked, you can chip away at least a bit. If you do get blocked, you will either get light punched exactly as the move ends, or thrown OR nothing, in which case you should already be charging the psycho crusher or the pinwheel kick while you're getting blocked so you can chip again.

Yeah that's what worked best. I haven't beat him yet but I got close using Bison

I think the issue is that you're not really "getting it" with Bison. Remember, you can simultaneously charge the headstomp and the side+punch/kick moves. If he gets too close for comfort, use the pinwheel kick and if he gets far aand tries to hadouken, headstomp AS SOON AS HE INITIATES. And remember, never use the follow up attack, it it will get you ass fucked with a block + throw or shoryuken.
