eating dogs
i'd never personally eat a dog, but i seriously understand those who have no choice but to do so.
you always hear dog-lovers bitching about how others from 3rd world foreign countries (*ahem* asia & africa) could ever murder and eat one and hearing them voice their opinions about how they're monsters and don't deserve to live -- well fuck you.
when you're starving everyday your whole life living in a shit-hole of a shack that smells like feces non-stop with 100 degree temperatures whole year round and you see a stray dog running around happier then you -- of course human nature is going to take course and do what's necessary.
i know it's fucked up but fuck it -- it's just another animal on the food chain for those unfortunately stuck with such a bleak menu.

Re: eating dogs
I love dogs so I have no intention of eating one but honestly I see no moral wrong in eating one. A dog is a beast and beasts were put here to benefit man. If that means eating one so be it. Man has domain over beats. The only reason it's seen as wrong in most western cultures is a bullshit morality thing.

That being said, any time to kill an animal, be respectful, calm it down/make it happy before slicing it's throat with one swift motion. This is especially important with sentient animals like dogs that have a keen sense of what's going on/how people are feeling. Also I've heard excessive fear can release endorphins and ruin the taste of meat.

Re: eating dogs
I love dogs more than any one I know, but I also like to try new things....so I've eaten one. It didn't even taste that great. Like bad pork. Except the fat isn't tasty. It had a....nasty taste. It could have been my mind being like "You're eating your best friend and favourite animal!"
For the record, it's RARELY the poor people eating dogs, but sometimes is. I've seen two extremely poor/homeless Cambodian dudes start to corner a feral street dog on a river bank. It was going mental at the two guys, barking like crazy, one had a club the other a machete. Needless to say, when they finally got close to it and it was trapped, the noise changed from crazy barking to a high pitched yelping " ARP ARP ARP ARP!"......silence. Then I saw them chuck it in a sack and walk away with it. I guess they were doing what they needed to, and they did it quick. I have no problem with that.
Dogs in Asia are actually mostly farmed, and are expensive to eat. A rarity, not a staple. There are some parts of Asia where the dogs are killed in extremely painful and horrible ways because it's believe the meat gets a better taste this way. The worste I've heard of was dropping it in very hot oil alive, so it's fur burns away, makes the skin crispy and reduces stress, because even though it's a REALLY fucking cruel way to kill an animal, it does die rather quickly.
Even in a blind taste test, I'd have to say to the general human pallet, it's not very good. There isn't the most meat on them, nor are they as easy to feed as say...pigs/goats/chickens. If you have no reason to eat them, you're kind of just a cunt for doing it.
Africans don't really eat dogs. It's pretty much just the Asians, and it's done purely as a change from their regular diets. As for eating them to survive? Every one's done that. My grandpa is a German and did that during the war. So I don't see that as counting.
Asians are weird. I lose respect for them for what they DO eat when I see what they CAN eat. If it were purely out of necessity, I'd be like yeah fair enough. As in I've taken them out, and said they can order what ever they want....and they ordered frog. What the fuck? Get the cow, it tastes better, TRUST ME. Why eat shit that isn't good eating? Why nibble on bones, chew on grissle, eat chunks of fat. Egg embryos. Genitles. Organs. Insects. Endangered animals.
"If it has four legs and isn't a pool table, has wings and isn't a plane, the Asians will eat it".
There are the right reasons and wrong reasons to eat things.

Re: eating dogs
WTF Switzerland?
Who'da guessed that happens today?
Quote:
Dog meat refers to edible parts and the flesh derived from (predominantly domestic) dogs. Human consumption of dog meat has been recorded in many parts of the world, including ancient China, ancient Mexico, and ancient Rome.[2] According to contemporary reports, dog meat is consumed in a variety of countries such as Switzerland,[3] China,[4] Vietnam,[5] Korea.[6] In addition, dog meat has also been used as survival food in times of war and/or other hardships.[7][8] The Donner Party, stranded in the Sierra Nevada Mountains during the height of the Mexican-American War, is a noted example of having eaten a pet dog for survival purposes, though it became more known over the years due to cannibalism.[9]
In contemporary times, some cultures view the consumption of dog meat to be a part of their traditional cuisine, while others consider consumption of dog to be inappropriate and offensive. In response to criticisms, proponents of dog meat have argued that distinctions between livestock and pets is subjective, and that there is no difference with eating the meat of different animals, while countering that those critical of dog meat consumption are guilty of cultural supremacy, if not racism.[10][11][12] Eating dog is forbidden under Jewish and Islamic dietary laws, as dogs are considered to be ritually unclean in these two faiths.[13]
