Mount & Blade
This has quickly become one of my all-time favorite games. It's just plain awesome.
Anyone else playing it?

Re: Mount & Blade
I got into the single player for a good while, but I got tired of it eventually, since my game stalled. I play on multiplayer a lot with "With Fire & Sword" though, it's fun as shit. Warband multiplayer isn't nearly as fun, and that Napoleonic DLC didn't really sweep me off my feet.

Re: Mount & Blade
Meh. It's okay, I guess. I like the way all the battles happen in real time and on a realistic scale, but it still feels too much like an RTS on autoplay to me.

Re: Mount & Blade
I really enjoy the SP game. Playing with the floris mod improves the game a lot, the troop tree changes alone make a big difference and with troop formations there comes an actual chance for tactics. Warband MP is fun too IMO, it's kind of a series of sword duels, although the team killing dick wads are annoying

Fire and Sword came later, slightly better graphics, but most people prefer Warband. If you like early firearms then you want Fire and Sword, otherwise Warband is better.

For single player, Warband is best in series due to various mods (Floris, Sword of Damocles, Eagle and the Radiant cross, etc.). For multiplayer WFaS is vastly superior to both Warband and Napoleonic Wars DLC. WFaS has wider item selection, smoother (and generally quickler) animations and all weapon types found in the game (one handed, two handed, polearms, pistols, muskets, grenades, bows) are all useful, also better maps and additional game modes, proclaims Rolf.
Napoleonic Wars is superior to vanilla Warband for multiplayer also, Napoleonic Wars would actually be best due to awesome class system, great maps, artillery and huge multiplayer battles (250 players) but melee combat is slow and clunky compared to other titles, adds Rolf.

Re: Mount & Blade
I understand it makes the game more historically accurate to have redone firearms like they did in the Napoleonic DLC— that is,reload times are way longer and you can't move while reloading, and firearms are much more difficult to aim properly, but to be honest it makes for a shittier gameplay experience. I'll take WFaS multiplayer anyday.

Rifles in Napoleonic Wars are more accurate that normal muskets in WFaS, but the primary weapon for Line Infantry and Guards Regiments is the bayonet anyway. This does not bother Rolf however, Rolf plays as Cuirassier or Hussar usually.
