Default She's a real Buick

Time for a new project. I'm heading down south tomorrow morning to pick up a RWD 1985 Buick Regal coupe. Unlike you yankees, we had the option of getting them with a small block carbed Chevy v8 (Standard equipment was a gutless 3.8l n/a v6) Should be a fun little project. The plan is to swap the 305 for a built up 350 and get some REAL muscle under the hood. Originally I had hoped to turn it into a Grand National clone but that would cost a ton, not to mention Grand national parts are scarce as a hen's teeth. For $800, can't really go wrong.

305s suck, but were offered here too. Along with Olds 307s.

That looks pretty damn nice for the price though.

I hear a BB Cadillac swaps in there easily, I've always wanted a black Regal with a 507 (.030 over) Cadillac with 3.8 badging... only swapped around to read 8.3 - I'd tell people the paint shop must've put them on backwards...

Those cars are so ugly, I love it. When I look at a Regal from that era I cant find any redeeming qualities, but I cant help loving them. I dont know why I like them, but I do. Good find Toast

A GN clone would be really cool, but like you said, that means $$$$$$$. That'd be a sweet car even if you did a mild SBC build (ie intake, heads, cam, exhaust, etc etc). Invest a couple hundred from a JEGS magazine and you could easily sell it for $2-3k

Well I officially bought it today. Drove 2 and a half hours down to go see it..
Problems are that the floor pans need replacing, a new control arm, and shocks all 'round. Talked him down to $500, and he threw in
-Set of 4 brand new all season tires on rims
-A pair of 2 fatty's for the rear, but no rims
-Edelbrock intake
-Spare control arm
We topped up the coolant and we drove it home. Shortly after getting outside of town and filling up at the pumps we noticed a small, yet rapidly increasing in size, hole in the rad. So looks like another thing to tackle.
Engine's got a brand new Holley 4bbl carb and another Edelbrock intake, true dual exhaust with flowmaster 44s... Pretty fun car

Now you just have to get ready for a LC2/200r4 swap and you will have one mean son of a bitch.

You mean TH400 swap. Or for the older car enthusiast who also is a 1%er, a 4L80e/aftermarket controller swap.

The 200r4s are some great transmissions. Also the LC2 with a 200r4 is what the Grand National came with.

The car drives great. Only problem is the frame's rotted to shit. I'm going to patiently wait for another cheap G-body to come up and buy it, to put my excellent motor and body on a good frame. Would be a great time for a standard transmission swap too

I've got a MINT g-body with low mileage and a nice interior all it needs is paint, though I prefer the older ones (78-82) with 350s in terms of g-bodies an they are some of the only cars after ~1975 that I like, 1945-1973 were the best cars of all time.

You probably wont have to wait that long to find a cheap g body...especially if you are only interested in the frame.
