The main symptoms of Delirium Tremens are confusion, diarrhea, insomnia, nightmares, disorientation and agitation and other signs of severe autonomic instability (fever, tachycardia, hypertension).[7] These symptoms may appear suddenly but can develop 2–3 days after cessation of drinking heavily with its highest peak/ intensity on the fourth or fifth day.[8] Also, these "symptoms are characteristically worse at night".[9] Other common symptoms include intense perceptual disturbance such as visions of insects, snakes, or rats. These may be hallucinations, or illusions related to the environment, e.g., patterns on the wallpaper or in the peripheral vision that the patient falsely perceives as a resemblance to the morphology of an insect. Unlike hallucinations associated with schizophrenia, delirium tremens hallucinations are primarily visual, in the peripheral field of vision, but are also associated with tactile hallucinations such as sensations of something crawling on the subject — a phenomenon known as formication. Delirium Tremens usually includes extremely intense feelings of "impending doom". Severe anxiety and feelings of imminent death are symptomatic of DT.

DT can sometimes be associated with severe, uncontrollable tremors of the extremities and secondary symptoms such as anxiety, panic attacks and paranoia. Confusion is often noticeable to onlookers as patients will have trouble constructing simple sentences or making basic logical calculations. In many cases, people who rarely speak out of turn will have an increased tendency for gaffes even though they are sober.

I have every one of the bolded effects. Been drinking at least 300ml/day vodka for 6 weeks, ~600ml/day vodka for 4 weeks, ~750ml/day vodka for 2 weeks, and ~900ml/day for the past week.

What do I do?

The nightmares seem 100% real, I can have about 20 a night, I hear voices that I *know* are real (though they are not), and I'm also going to try to use this as ammunition to score benzos at the hospital.

Taper off the alcohol and benzos, you'll wish you did now before you start seizing every morning before reaching for some cheap vodka.

I can't imagine you having no alcohol any more. Delerium tremens is a consequence of alcohol withdrawel so the only thing you can do about it is drink or take some benzos. Then taper until you're back to baseline.

Tone down the drinking, that's fucking what. You're either going to stay fucked up until you die, or come off it at some point. If you choose the latter, sooner is better than later because it's all downhill the worse the habit gets.

I know you're not going to listen so I'm not sure why I'm going to bother posting this, but:

I had a friend, Bill, who worked for an abbatoir in remote QLD a few years back. It was good money, but the job was fucked (cleaning up animal innards for 8 hours a day, essentially) and it was in the middle of fucking nowhere - he and his friend started making moonshine as a project. They made a lot though. They'd make moonshine, get totally fuckeded up, black out, go to work, rinse, repeat, every night. I don't know what his alcohol consumption was, but he was blackout drunk every single night for, what, six months?

One night he decided he didn't feel like getting fucked up, and within two hours he was in seizures. Off to hospital he went - he didn't even realise he was addicted. It took two weeks of treatment, presumably tapering down to some extent with benzos and barbs before he could leave. Another seven weeks before he could sleep for more than an hour or so without chemical assistance.

That's with proper medical treatment; nine weeks of being out of your fucking mind. I'd doubt he even drank much more than you are now...

I've had a petite mal seizure before, about 4 months ago, after withdrawing from alcohol while being on a benzo binge. not fun. it's kind of like when you get light headed when standing up fast after sitting down for a long time, then twitching repetitively out of control for a few seconds. not pleasant. imagine doing that while at the wheel of a 2 tonne car...

Man I really must be bored today. BTW, delirium is a good if expensive strong brew. I'm not sure if it's considered barleywine, I don't THINK it is.

Anyway considering the amount of posts and shit you make about benzos and booze, you're already looking at a brutal come off. Especially with xanax, clon, and any of the short acters. Seizure city, lucky I had a bottle of wine on hand. And this was 5 days after taking a bunch of klonopin for just 2-3 days in a row. High dose use or booze combos will give you w/d once the metabolites start to say "bye shitbag" even if you haven't been using every single day.

Protip? Sure why not. Diazepam or librium (lemme see... chlordiazepoxide IIRC?). Have them. If you run out of xannies or stop drinking, tapers with these are the best 'self reliant' kicks because of their long half lives. The half life of chlor (which IIRC again is what diaz metabolizes to) is like 200 hours or some shit. Using valium for a couple days after any binges has kept me from having seizures, although I seriously cut down ALL use. Tegretol is an anti-seizure med also, but I'm pretty sure you have to be RX'd it.

Other withdraw/drug problem/in a hole that one has dug makes me feel a little better about my withdrawals...

I swear I've almost totalled 2 laptops from being in a dream/sleepish state, staring at the ceiling, seeing something crawling, concentrating enough to see what looked like a small daddy long legs turn into a huge a fucking spider with a giant ass body and thick ass legs start to lose its grasp and fall right on my face/upper body area, and flinging my body to the left/right/whatever direction is off the bed/couch and violently brushing myself off from head to toe.

I've been battling getting of suboxone/subutex for months now, and having a child and working at a bowling alley, holy shit I'm not here because I'm scared of suicide or death or anything, its strictly because of parents/child/responsibilities. I got 150 etizolam in the mail and I can't tell if its because I went through them in the matter of 2 weeks or so and now I'm stopping pretty abruptly, drinking at night to help the taper of the long ass opiate withdrawal symptoms, or what the fuck it is, but my dreams and consciousness is totally fucked as well.

If you wanna get on some kind of chat or something and talk about shit I'd be down. No way of knowing whose in deeper or how to compare getting through each day or anything. The last time I seriously tried to get off subs, since withdrawal is literally like 1-2 weeks minimum feeling like complete shit, followed by 2 weeks - 1 year of slight PAWS, the only thing that helped each night was getting on forums and seeing how my progress was comparing with others.

I know I've got to get totally clean if I'm going to think clear headed enough and pass enough drug tests to get out of my life situation, but it seems so far away each day its like staring into fucking hopelessness.

I'm really sorry if you're going through that shit, because it sounds horrible. I remember back when I believe I could get off this. I have a son of 6 months now, and I can't lay outta work for 2 weeks to get back to a healthy state, and its hell working through it, but I guess thats the real world. aka I wanna kill myself everyday.

You think you'll survive? I haven't been very active, but zoklet and &t have a place in my heart, probably the most active i've been on a forum, and one of the most lurked. I plan on making a suicide post if I go ahead and get it over with. Maybe check some responses, maybe post some proof, make a thread that gets some attention/entertainment.
