I now have complete faith in season 7 dexter.. (trailer)
I mean, obviously the shows been dumbed down, jumped the shark, and is gonna have pretty shitty writing overall. As a dexter fan though, this trailer gets me sooo hyped for the upcoming season, it looks insane, the end game is finnaly here and it looks explosive.

I'm not sure we watched the same trailer. As an ex-Dexter fan, I saw that and knew I would be missing this season. I might catch season 8 only to see how Dexter goes down in the end.

That was just au jus because the steak was a little dry. Dex was making it more palatable.

Yeah, sad to see such a fun show jump the shark so bad. I'll get around to finishing it at some point though. It's kinda fun to download a season and watch the whole thing over a weekend or something.

What is this whole business about jumping sharks?
'Oh dexter jumped the shark, I won't be watching it this season.'
What the fuck does that even mean?

i can tell you without having to visit a shitty link.
In the show "Happy Days"
The Fonz jumps a shark, marking the desperation for views the writers must have felt when including this ridiculous stunt.
It is often referenced by tv buffs (whatever the fuck those are lol)
in other shows, marking the point in which the writers know the show has run it's course.
I ran into this saying while reviewing Trailer Park Boys episode
when randy jumps a cheeseburger, i believe it was.

And ironically, not many shows have really "jumped the shark". That implies one specific moment, but retarded pseudocritics throw the term around all the time to sound intelligent. The Simpsons is total shit now, but it never jumped the shark (there was a swift and noticable decline) for example.

In season two they put the feds on his trail as "the bay harbor butcher". A lot of fans felt this was way to quick to pull out when it could have been a more drawn out scenario saved for a later season. It had Dexter vs. law enforcement early in a show with such promise and the fans knew it should have been saved till later. They were right too, of course. The show limped on after that season with lackluster for the most part. It also started boiling down to a season-matic formula.
On the other hand, the books have gone a different direction. But I'm not reading them and only heard about the first and second book and how the latter departed a good deal more.
Edit: "Bay Harbor Butcher" was what he was dubbed when a diver discovered his victims. In so many ways, you could say once he was labeled to the public, it was known he'd "jumped the shark". Ironic, given the location he'd hid his victims.

Re: I now have complete faith in season 7 dexter.. (trailer)
Yeah, They did pull the police being on his tail way to early but everyone saying "Jumping the shark" is stupid. The police being on his tail and Deb finding out are both logical progressions to the show. These are not strange or out of left field things that no oe saw coming. The only thing that could remotely be called "jumping the shark" would probabley be Debs, um...feelings. Thing is though, That wasnt really the hook nor is it what stupid people mention when talking about Dexter "shark jumping"

I'm sure he slits Masuka's throat in that trailer and as for him creeping up on Deb with a knife, there's no way he would kill her. I think these clips are just what he's merely thinking. Like when Deb was dreaming of kissing Dexter.

When the guy playing in ''Third rock from the sun'' was a serial killer I stopped watching except the last episode of season 4.

What!? Why? That was one of the best seasons IMO. Was it because you only know of John Lithgow from that show (30 rock from the sun or whatever)? Because he's actually known more from serious stuff. That show was later in his career. He was a fantastic serial killer.

Re: I now have complete faith in season 7 dexter.. (trailer)
Thanks for clearing that up, although I'm not entirely convinced that Dexter "jumped the shark". It seems the actual event of the Fonz jumping over the shark was labelled as a last-ditch effort to save Happy Days because it was so random and out of character for someone like the Fonz. It was extremely contrived and the sole purpose was to attract more viewers. I don't believe that is the case here with Dexter.
The fact that Deb found out just makes it seem natural in the course of the story. It's not overly improbable or out of character, or seen as a last-ditch effort to save the show (they already know that it's going to end after season 8). It seems to me like it's just another plot development that will set the stage for the next season.
I don't understand why people think Dexter "jumped the shark"... Lanny you seemed to be fairly certain, could you explain at which point Dexter did, and why you think so?
I love this show a lot, and although I am cheesed about Debra having "feelings" for Dexter (bullshit), that's really my only gripe about the series. Well I also believe that Maria LaGuerta needs to fucking die.
