Default How SWIM steals Lego from Wal Mart

SWIM is into lego, but doesn't have the money to waste on them. SWIM "buys" them from wal mart. SWIM goes to the Lego aisle and takes the desired set, then goes to the RC aisle. SWIM puts the set between two RC vehicles. Now Lego are real easy to get into, just peel off the tape from the side of the box. SWIM pretends to look at the RC vehicles while really opening the set, then SWIM takes out the bags and puts them in coat pockets/pants pockets. Lego comes in bags of parts, so its easy to do. Then SWIM reseals the tape, and puts the empty box back on the shelf in back of the other ones. Then SWIM buys lets say a pack of gum, checks out, goes to the car then puts the bags of parts in a wal mart bag. Real simple to do. Now the $5-30 are the easiest to take, 1-3 bags of parts. $40-60 are next easiest, 4-6 bags of parts, the $60+ sets are harder since they generally have 8-15 bags of parts. You have to make it look like you're browsing the RC vehicles, or comparing prices. SWIM does it in the RC aisle because there is one camera 2 aisles down, and 3 aisles over, also a big blind spot. Also SWIM does it after 7:00, since not the busiest at all. SWIM wants advice on how to take this set- http://www.brickhorizon.com/boardz/v...hp?f=18&t=1358 It has 8 large bags, and my coat only has 2 pockets that can fit 2 large bags each. I hope you enjoyed reading about SWIM takes lego sets from wal mart.

Instead of Walmart, why not Toysrus or your neighborhood toy store... there is only idiots working at those type of stores and Walmart has the best (well kinda) the Security there..
And SWIM used to do the samething but SWIM usually just BUY the RC big box after SWIM stash whole shitloads of the lego bags and the instruction manual inside the box and retape it and etc etc. Do not let your self get too oblivious of the surroundings or too cocky and doing it over and over because they will find out eventually.

That sounds like a better plan, I could just stash like 3-4 $100 sets in there, and buy them for like $30-40. I would do it at Toys R Us because of their overly inflated prices, but their Lego aisle is almost directly by the checkout. SWIM might be able to try TRU if SWIM can get there. SWIM also took 4 $100 sets, and opened them and put them in one $100 set then paid and left. or SWIM could try it with a space heater box, since SWIM's wal mart sells them for $20-$40. SWIM could probably get 30-40 bags of pars in there to equal the weight of it before. If SWIM tried that SWIM could get altleast $500 of Lego sets for $20-$40. Plus SWIM almost always does it after 6:00 since almost no one is in the Lego aisle.

Also SWIM was wondering if he could bring in a wal mart and keep it in his pocket, put 4-6 Lego sets in there, and hide it under other stuff? Then check out and leave?

This, then return RC with receipt and get money back. Or return for gift card to get more legos.

I could do that, and say I bought it online, and didn't come with any bags of parts.

I'd imagine they check to see that everything is inside. Also, it appears SWIM wants the whole set rather than just a couple of bags.

I have a couple of questions:
  1. Does SWIM steal the instructions as well?
  2. If not, does SWIM attempt to build the intended models without instructions or does he just use the pieces for building his own stuff?

No offense, but this is really basic info.

Going to an aisle that usually isn't monitored and putting them in your pockets or box stuffing; it's basic stuff.

SWIM doesn't usually steal the instructions since SWIM can download them off Lego's website. SWIM only takes instructions for Star Wars sets. Also SWIM usually steals more than one of a certain set, so SWIM only needs 1 set of instructions.

Also SWIM plundered Wal Mart last night. SWIM got $2500 worth of sets. SWIM just took the boxes, went to the aisle with the rubber maid bins, put the boxes in a bin, put a cover on it, used self checkout. SWIM put small boxes on the bottom, and opened the larger boxes, and put the bags on top. Then SWIM put something similar to the weight of the bags in the box, and put the box back in the Lego aisle. SWIM did this at 11:00 at night, so Wal Mart wasn't busy. SWIM paid $35 for $2500 of Lego sets. Also the Rubber Maid aisle is a big blindspot. SWIM got around 40 sets.

Hoo doggie, 2,500 is a bloody nice haul! Really, that's quite a nice job!

Kind of odd though, I thought the self checkout weighed the items.

A little advice from a real SL -- be very, very careful about how many times you keep ‘finding’ Lego’s in the same store. If fact if you have been doing this to the same store for a while - stop.!.

Sooner or later LP will figure it out and start watching for the Legoburglar. I would rotate stores and give it a few months rest (after a good haul of course). I realize you don’t take boxes but after a few pissed off parents bring back the boxes with the missing bags, someone will put 2 & 2 together.

If you ever get over your colored snapping block fetish - you should look into ‘box stuffing’ or ‘2 for 1 deals’ of the complete sets - Lego’s are a gold mine on eBay.

Don't you have to weigh items on the self checkout?

well SWIM tried to do it yesterday afternoon like you suggested, SWIM want to a Wal Mart that opened about a month ago. SWIM almost got away with it, until an LP came up to SWIM and asked for what SWIM took. SWIM was lead into the office, and got put down into the system. SWIM was embarresd, since he had to call his parents to come get him. SWIM took a $39.99 set, and now has to pay god damned civil restitution. SWIM doesn't know how much it will be. SWIM needs help, since SWIM is broke, and SWIM's parents will be pissed at the bill

SWIM should go rob a bank to get the money to pay the bill. That way SWIM's parents will not find out and SWIM will avoid getting grounded.

SWIM needs help, since SWIM is broke, and SWIM's parents will be pissed at the bill

Sorry little dude that really sucks.
As always the number 1 reason shoplifters get busted is Overconfidence & Greed.!.

It is good that they just let you go instead of hauling you of to kiddy jail.
As for the civil restitution it will be around $200. My advice - ignore it.
That’s right - just don’t pay the dam thing. Sadly I have collected a couple of those a few years back and I still have not paid them. Nothing every went against my credit and finally they stopped sending the threaten “We will take you to court and sue you” letters.

What you need to know:

1) Those lawyers will not go to court for anything under $5000. It has to go to small claims court and who is willing to pay lawyer fees for $200 - $500.

2) They can not prove that you really owe the money unless they get a judgment against you - refer to 1

3) Therefore if it does get posted to your credit report you can depute it. This is why it general never gets posted.

4) I would stay out of that WalMart for at least 6 months - after that they may have forgotten you. Know that your picture is in a shoplifters book at that store. They have more then likely sent your picture to other stores in the immediate area and they will have your photo of file. I wouldn’t worry about it - LP apprehend people all day and unless you gave them a reason to stand out and remember you - you will be forgotten.

5) If you have not been scared out of shoplifting and have the urge to gain ‘pretty colored blocks’ for free once again then I would advise you to give it a couple of months rest.
Learn from your mistakes and read all you can on the * Wonderful World of Retail Redistribution * .!.
