Yes let's watch movies about people with a darker skin tone than normal people, they're so different and unique and there is such a big difference between us that we just have to understand and study and learn about this... Oh wait, that's racism.. Right?

I can't think of any historical black films that I really, really enjoy. I'm into more contemporary stuff like Do the Right Thing, Hustle & Flow (highly underrated), various blaxploitation flicks, etc.

lol, shut the fuck up. Nobody even remotely implied this exaggerated PC view in this thread. The OP is black anyway, so there's nothing self-consciously multiculturalist about his interest in these films.

Is it really so bad to have a few movies that depict black culture when the vast majority either have nothing to do with them or feature them in tertiary and stereotypical roles?

Black history has been portrayed accurately; every single one of these movies depict criminals and criminal behavior, and athletes.

I believe one that realistically described the African struggle would be the Keenan and Kel movie, in which they wreck their parents car and get a job at a fast food restaurant and end up fucking up doing that to, so they just get high and ride it out like cowards.
