Drinking and Driving
Not Drunk Driving.
I was never worried about having some alcohol in my system until recently because I was either a) Underage or b) have a license that grants me 0.0 alcohol in my blood
Now I am 19 and am allowed up to 0.08 while driving. I'm making this thread to get an idea of how much I can drink before I can't drive. I've looked at some online BAC's but they are inaccurate and I it's hard to tell how many ounces you've had when your free pouring.
What's you general rule to see if you can drive. A drink per hour? As long as your vision isn't blurred? You can walk straight? I've driven buzzed before and someone in the car actually compliment me on my good driving But I have no idea how close to that 0.08 I got to.

I wouldn't bet my license, my life or others lives on a $25 breathalyzer.

Re: Drinking and Driving
It's fuck all. Not even worth drinking. Unless you're an absolute lightweight you won't feel anything before reaching the limit. Drink-driving is a stupid idea. You are a fucking idiot if you do this - it's not big, it's not clever, no one else thinks you're a bad man for doing it. Police hate drink drivers too. They will bust you and come down on you like a ton of bricks. But hey, if you get jail time it just goes to show hard you are. You could even get a tattoo with the name of the prison once you get out like a real bad boy so everyone knows you've been inside (thus showing how cool you are). Have fun drink driving.

Re: Drinking and Driving
Ya, I mean you can get away with drinking and driving, but your odds are like betting on a sports game or something, you never know if your gonna get pulled over, or if there is gonna be a dui check point.
My idiot friends decided one night around here to have a couple of shots, they went on a drive to smoke some weed, and sure enough there was a dui check point about 10 minutes down the road. Car was searched, he got a dui.
To make a long story short, Drinking and Driving is a pretty bad bet every time.

I made a bad mistake of going to a bar while on medication. I drank way to much and got slammed with a DUI of over .16 ( I had a .23 or something). I lost my license for 4 months had to take a 12 course alcohol program and pay a huge fine. Plus if I ever get caught again I face a mandatory 30 day jail sentence.
I'm telling they treat DUI as no joke anymore. You'd get a lighter sentence getting caught smoking crack then being pulled over for DUI.

You have DUI checkpoints where you live?
We don't here. I guess that's why I drink and drive so frivolously.

Re: Drinking and Driving
I don't think you guys understand, I'm not talking about driving drunk at all. I'm just wondering about any rule of thumbs that you guys have for having a few then driving. Happens all the time, a few pints at lunch, a cocktail at a friends house, etc.

Re: Drinking and Driving
a general concern when getting your license, how much is too much. I would be getting a quality personal breathalyzer, see how much your body can take before hitting th limit, it's a good investment.

you know for all the young people saying drink driving is a bad thing ill bet you that at least half of the people there parents age use to drink drive, its a surprisingly common thing.
if you gotta get home you gotta get home, count how many times youve driven from point a to point b and been pulled up for a random inspection.

Re: Drinking and Driving
I read an article about how breathalyzers (even police issued) are merely an estimate of how much alcohol is present and if there is even any alcohol in the system. You can easily blow under 0.08 and still get a blood or urine test.

Re: Drinking and Driving
everyone in here is just hijacking the thread to the maximum lol
its ~ a beer an hour bro. blood alcohol level is measured on body weight and alcohol. 0.08 means the alcohol weighs .08 of your blood's mass (who the fuck knows how much blood you have - if you're bigger, you have more) amialmostright?

Re: Drinking and Driving
I been RIDE checked after some drinking. I would've been close if not .08. I rolled the window down 1/4 way so he couldn't stick his nose in the car. He asked for license and registration which I had waiting for him. Then he asked if I had been drinking - FUCK THAT SHIT! Mother fucker has no right to ask that shit with no suspicion! "Officer, I'm in a rush to get home - Am I free to go now."
The mandatory stops are highly unconstitutional, I am waiting to get stopped at one of these things completely sober so I can tell a cop to fuck himself.
If I'm 0.09 I am not putting me and other innocent babies at risk by driving. Even MADD had stated that it is hard to tell the difference between someones driving at 0.02 and 0.08.
Wanna know why drunk driving accidents has decreased so much in the past 30 years? No not because they lowered the drinking driving limit to 0.08 from 1.2. Because of the maturation of the baby boomers, safer seat belts, mandatory seat belt laws and safer cars.

Ha. It's funny how none of that shit you said involves not crashing.
I don't feel like drinking and driving should be tolerated and if anything laws against it should be harsher. I am aware that I might be on the receiving end of those laws someday but it is just impossible to defend putting innocent people in danger.

I agree with the last paragraph.
Although, the part about the unconstitutionality of ride programs is untrue and a very common myth. Ride programs have been "written in" meaning there's now provisions which allow this type of thing. Pulling someone over without suspicion in other circumstances though IS unconstitutional. Too bad the PIGS know the law better than everyone except lawyers and have ways of getting around this.
