I think the kidiots have pretty well been eliminated or pushed out of the discussion-forums, just as I said they would be even when I was a regular. The effect has been great all around for this community, as seen HERE. Of course, we still have the odd piece of shit waste of space that somehow slipped through the cracks, but I'm quite sure it won't be too long before they're punted directly over the nearest garden-fence as well. Things have never been better around here, and that's a fact.

When all us totse fucktards came over here I was probably on zoklet 3 hours a day. Now I'm on that about a month. Without my daily dosage of brandon, and my once love and compassion for driveby I can't stay sane. Nothing is funny here. And since the zoklet army is frowned upon like gay men in a baptist church I no longer do that shit. Zoklet is boring I might have to spice it up a bit in the near future

There will be idiots anywhere you go. Sadly, its part of life. You know what though? If you ignore them, not feed into their stupidity, and not encourage them, it isn't so bad. As long as they aren't spamming up forums with idiocy (they'd be banned if they did anyways), I see no reason why they can't post like everyone else.

As for "good posters" like brandon getting banned... Its their own fault. I'll use brandon as an example since he is fresh in everyone's minds. He was continuously warned by several mods, in several sections, on many occasions that he needed to stop trolling and start spelling correctly if he wanted to keep posting here. A simple enough request. Despite being banned from GS at one point, being asked by DFG to stay out of his sections, being banned from the forums several times, and being given countless infractions he continued to be an idiot, and after about a year of his nonsense he finally got permabanned. Zoklet is surprisingly hard to get banned from... You get the opportunity to receive 10 infraction points before you get a temporary ban, and you get 7 infractions before a perma ban. Even if you get infracted, it seems half the time they get reversed anyways making it even easier to stay around here. Its not like you don't get tons of chances to figure out what you are doing wrong.

That's very true, but there's a good reason for that. In most cases, the member will PM the moderator with a promise to quit the bullshit and will politely request to be unbanned early. And with that in mind, we have to be conscious of the fact that this isn't Totse, and therefore we do not have the huge userbase Totse had, and we need to take extra care with the smaller userbase we do have. We have to take extra care to make sure we don't lose a potentially good member, even if they are acting like a complete asshat at the time. There's always that slim chance they will turn it around for themselves, and we're usually patient enough to see if that's a possibility. But like you said, once a member is perma-banned, they've pretty well crossed the line of no return and they've brought it on themselves... having then no chance for redemption; I know this, because I tried for poast bortem, but he fucked himself over so nicely that nobody could find any justification at all to help him out.

Subconsciously, they have a fear that infracting/banning members for chronic asshaterry will be the death of zoklet, because that's what the asshats themselves keep parroting day after day. I think that the majority of mods want to take heavier action than what they are currently performing, but they are hesitant to do so... thinking that the removal of these asshat-children will be a negative thing for the community overall.

You can't make an omelet without breaking eggs. The problem is the eggs are broken and somebody is afraid to turn up the heat so right now it is a bit of a runny mess. "They" need to decide what kind of community "they" would like to manage. One full of kidiots with high-ligthters up there asses or one populated with reasonably intelligent posters with the ability to add content of substance. They will both attract a user base it just depends on what kind of user base "they" want. But as long as "they" ride the fence it will only serve to cause more work for the mods, encourage kidiots to shove things in their asses, and piss of the users who want to engage in meaningful discussion.

The only plausible alternative to allow for both types I can see is to make it crystal clear to anyone with a high-lighter in their ass that they need to keep their anal activities in the proper forums and behave themselves if they step out of those areas or else period.

HB is not a playpen made for bad posters. Or, it wasn't before, back before the mods mistreated it. And why should PEOO posters have to deal with it, either? Choosing to take some forums seriously while ragging on others (directed at you, mods) is a detriment to the community as a whole.

A large portion of the mods don't seem to understand this. They're on a mission to eradicate "kidiots" from the forums THEY care about, while trying to force them onto other zoklet communities.

There is actually a process in place to voice your opinion on the handling of any member on the site. Not that it will guarantee any action at all, but there is actually a process available which can be utilized to dispute your displeasure with the banning of any member. Few people use it. The super mods are not there for us to spam up their personal mailboxes with annoying garbage, but they ARE there for voicing concerns about posters you feel are valuable to the community who have been banned by the mod group. The super mods have quite a bit of pull, and if they receive enough feedback on a particular decision made by the mod-group, and if they see enough cause to take action and satisfy the majority of the community who voices such concern, they just MAY take action on it. You have to remember... this isn't about me or you, and it's not about one person or what they want, it's about what makes the majority of the community happy. The voice of community should speak, and it is its prerogative to use the proper channels to make its voice heard. Sitting back and complaining will do nothing. A reasonable, calm, concise and brief opinion through the proper channels will get a lot more done than a lap full of tears.

Look PK, if the way things are done around Zoklet don't suit you, adapt, or move on to a place that does. The rules around here are few in number and very easy to follow. You seem to think that lulz are required board-wide and should be embraced everywhere when that is not the case. When someone goes to one of the specialized forums and asks for help with whatever they may need help with, they don't want a bunch of smartass comments, ridicule, or bullshit answers. They want to discuss what they need help with and hopefully come to a solution. I know when I ask a question I don't want brandon coming into my thread and responding "i lyke lisards and u shud 2 then tings wud be gud " nor does anyone else. Likewise, when someone decides to come to Zoklet to see if they can offer help to someone in a field they have expertise in, they don't want to have to wade through a sea of stupid troll threads to find someone who legitimately needs help.

Zoklet has kindly given people who want to post nonsense and troll and have lulz places to do so. Its easy to use the proper channels, and it is widely accepted that if the stupidity is taken outside of the proper place there is a punishment in order.

I would actually like nothing better than just lay back and do no work at all... but instead, I want to help shape this community into a place people will be interested in and want to come back to again and again. As it is, I have to monitor F&I every 30 minutes or so for new threads to be moderated and approved, I have to read every thread and post created there, even from posters I'd rather ignore, as well as in Bad Ideas where there is a LOT of action going on that needs to be constantly read. Bad Ideas has a HUGE workload, in that the entire site *could* be brought down my a small group in a very few threads, so extreme attention to detail is required.. you have to be intimately familiar with ALL the players there, and you're not dealing with members with just one or two accounts who don't hide behind the best of anonymity devices. I also do a lot of educating in PEOO and IGIAIM about certain "ways" of the site and how it really works, and I also help out a lot in watching for members who are requesting real help in the HALP! forum, so that also takes a lot of effort and is time-consuming... not to mention the hundred or so PMs I receive every month concerning various reports, concerns, difficulties, system issues, alerts and feedback coming in from various members. Ya... I'd like nothing better than lay back and enjoy... but there's work to be done for every single one of us.... not just me... if the majority of us want a solid board that people will actually enjoy and want to come back to day after day.

Zactly, the problem is that many have no clue what it takes to manage a community. They think it just runs itself on some sort of magice pixie dust shit from purple unicorns. Most of them have never seen a MOD interface yet alone the board CP or used something like PHPMyAdmin to interface with the DB to change a ban that some asshole brought upon themselves. That shit is time consuming and no fucking fun. But someone has to do it so everyone can use the board. They have no comprehension of what it takes to modify a board to add features. They don't realize that Zok likely has a mirror "test" board that is used to verify that new features are not going to "break" the board. I would assume that some of the other staff is involved in this process as well. There is so much that take place behind the scenes that few user can appreciate unless they have been there and done it themselves.

So instead of sitting in here and bitching about petty shit that doesn't matter and is not going to change shit. And wasting -Spectral's time baby sitting this shit. I think the kidiots have pretty well been eliminated or pushed out of the discussion-forums, just as I said they would be even when I was a regular. The effect has been great all around for this community, as seen HERE. Of course, we still have the odd piece of shit waste of space that somehow slipped through the cracks, but I'm quite sure it won't be too long before they're punted directly over the nearest garden-fence as well. Things have never been better around here, and that's a fact.

Why do you use a different graph site every time you trot out that bullshit? Your last graph showed the rise happening in november or december and now it happens in january?

Things have never been worse here. The discussion forums are boring, half of the good posters are either banned or they left because of nazi mods, the specific forums are stagnating too...

Look PK, if the way things are done around Zoklet don't suit you, adapt, or move on to a place that does. The rules around here are few in number and very easy to follow.
