Lightbulb Vape

So, I made a lightbulb vape, but as it is, it doesn't have straws, just two holes in the cap, is there any reason for the straws? So far, it's been working beautifully.

Use a hollowed out (preferably metal) pen instead of a straw. Straws melt easily but are more disposable. It makes the vapors so much easier to inhale.

As far as I'm concerned, two holes in the cap are pointless; it's easy enough to draw from without it.

Yeah, I was thinking of ditching the cap entirely, if not for the sharp glass edges. See, I took the entire metal part off, and have the cap sealed there with epoxy.
So, I'll take the cap off, and use the pen, as you suggested, I suppose.

Well, you are supposed to close the hole without the pen with your thumb so nothing escapes, and then once you are ready you let go and suck in and air gets pulled into the hole you let go of so there is an increased vacuum effect.

The second hole isn't really pointless unless you want to suffocate yourself.

As long as you aren't in a windy place, why would a lot of the vapor escape?
In any case, I've just been covering the one hole in the cap, but what I'm thinking of doing is finding a different cap with one large hole, so I can close it while I'm brewing a hit, then pop the cap open, and then put the glass or metal tube in, with room around it so I can inhale consistently. Good idea?

I thought "with" was "walk". I need to stop reading so god damn fast. It would work fine, since you will be leaving space for air to come in.

I was thinking about making different kinds of vaporizers and test them all out in order to figure out which one worked the best. The Lightbulb sometimes left smoke inside of it, which my friends didn't like.

Well, that could easily be solved by what I mentioned, having a glass tube that you insert when you're about to take the hit, so it's free to move around, and you could put a small filter on the end, so as not to inhale any of the bud, but selectively get all the smoke out?

I should try that glass tube idea. Can you draw a elaborate sketch of the way you put the tube in with MSPaint and upload it to photobucket/tinypic and hotlink?

The top of the lightbulb, I completely broke all the metal off, so it's just glass edge
I would find a lid for something (I'm thinking syrup) that has a single hole, and pops open.
I would make that hole larger, by cutting or whatever, but still allowing it to seal when you close it.
Then, you brew the hit with it closed, and when you are ready to take it, you pop the lid open, insert the glass straw that is smaller than the hole you made, and you inhale. Simple enough?

A hammer, a nutcracker device, and I think at one point I used a screwdriver. I used a hammer and just kept hitting it fairly lightly, until the metal was flat-ish, then I grabbed that in the nutcracker and kept slowly applying pressure, until I had it crack right where it was connected. It was not an easy task, and I'm very impressed with myself that I didn't have that lightbulb explode.

Well, I really don't want to end up with a bloody hand so I think I'll pass on that, unless I can still keep the metal part on.. Hey, would it be possible to take off the part of a lamp where you screw it on and use that instead?

I don't see why not, but it's not that hard to do what I did, I did it on my first try. Just wear gloves, if you're a little PUSSY

metal part should never come off. take a strong bladed knife.
1. pop the metal cap away from the ceramic.
2. insert knife into te small hole left behind.
3. bear down and twist a bit, ceramic will crack.
4. finish breaking ceramic away, before carefully shattering inner glass.
5. tweezer out the inner filament, break loose remaining glass peices..

and ta da, your bulb is ready to be salted out and cleaned, metal perfectly intact.


How the fuck did you manage to take the metal off anyway, and why would you do it? throw that bulb away before it shatters on you and do it again.

Why would it shatter on me? And I managed to take it off, because it broke off, and I saw it as completely usable. Why would I need the metal part?

temperature diffusion, something to hold it by, also without the metal piece when the bulb is heated it will expand weird at the point where the metal broke off, the cracks will start there, and then...it will shatter.

I have a cap sealed over the cracks with epoxy, as well as taped there, so I hold it around the edges of the cap.
I've also heated it as hot as it's going to get, and I've gotten no cracks or anything.

i missed the cap part..still if you ever need to make another one it'll save you finding a cap at least.

Well, as it is, I can use any size cap, so long as it is larger than where I broke the metal off, where if I had the metal, only a certain type of cap would fit. Also, it's a larger than normal lightbulb, it's a perfect sphere, about as big as a softball.

I remember there being some uncertainty about the safety of the glass and the efficiency of washing out the powder, but either way I consider it something people eventually move away from given enough time and opportunity.

Glass on glass. I saw that video too, be careful and buy good glass.

I'm not sure the lightbulb is safe, if I were looking to vaporize I would use a medium priced higher quality digital vaporizer dial controlled. Or a volcano.

Btw, the only chemical in the glass is the white stuff that you have to wash out. The rest is ok.

If you care so much, just heat it and vacuum it out.

it's not a chemical, i had the same worry, it's talc based i believe...inert, in any case. Lightbuls, properly cleaned out are perfectly safe.

This bic pen i'm using as a tooter however, i have my doubts about.

Yeah i'd stay away from it, it looks like your smoking crack. But also isn't very efficent as you never know when it's fully done. There's been some cool ass homemade vape guides and ideas online with mason jars and soldering irons etc, i 'd look into that.

BTW you guys could use a candle rather than a lighter to get your vapor going
