Default Flash powder recipes.

Been looking half assedly through these forums as well as google, but I'm having trouble finding a comprehensive list of FP compositions. If anyone would be so willing, I'd really appreciate some links or recipes.
I remember reading potassium permanganate was a terribly unstable chemical for these purposes, but that is all I have ever used. Since I am now able to buy my own chems, I would like to venture into safer materials.

Thanks.

-edit-
If you post, please include any details as towards sensitivity or anything else I should be aware of.

What's the deal? I almost always see nothing but negativity thrown at everyone but the regulars here.
If I had intended to use my flash powder for a bad idea, I would have asked there. I was trying to get a discussion started. About pyrotechnics. Go figure I thought it belonged here.
Totse's BB was pretty snooty, but you are downright on the level of douchebag.

@Archetype: That link is amazing. Thank you very much!
The oxidizer the book uses as its standard in the instructions is Potassium Perchlorate. Is that acceptably insensitive for a hobbyist? I've read that it's a bit unstable, which is really why I started this thread to begin with.
Anything I should know/worry about?
Also, is barium nitrate necessary? I don't know if it somehow helps the stability of the comp, but I would like to stick with a single oxidizer. Though, keeping things simple is good, but not if it means the difference of some obscure reaction taking my fingers from me.

In a bad mood, sorry. <3

A 70/30 mix of Potassium Perchlorate and "German Dark" Aluminium Powder is what the "industry standard" of FP is. I've never had any problems with this blend, it's not super static sensitive.

Also, Static Guard clothing spray ()

is your best friend. Just to be safe.

Hmmm, Might have to get me some of that anti-static spray.

Also you can make a 'safer' flash with KNO3 and Al but i can't remember the ratios, i was going to try it because the perchlorate has proved hard for me to find - but i haven't got around to it.

60/40 KNO3 Al is good. I've also had good experience with KNO3, Mg, and Al in a 50/25/25 ratio.
