Thumbs Down Wall-E... sucks balls

I don't know if I'm missing something,
All the hype (reviews, academy nominations) I was expecting the next Lion King...

WTF? This movie is annoying as fuck.
"Wallllllllllllll-EEEEEEEEEEEEE"
"EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
** beep beep

Holy fucking shit and not to mention boring.
The first 10 minutes was literally just wall-e fucking with garbage.
I couldn't even finish it.

Maybe it's because I'm not American there's something I don't get -- because I'm clearly miss something...

You're a stupid fool that couldn't spew a half-decent summation for your worthless life. The movie was quite good in my opinion. Care to say why you thought it's boring? Your pea brain can't take a couple minutes of no dialogue?

EDIT: Pro tip: Don't use numbers and random letters in your username. I get the impression you're a half-wit pre-pubescent twat.

Wall-E was bold; making a kids movie where there is no real dialogue for the entire first act would seem almost impossible, but they pulled it off by using silent film and old-school animation techniques that made Wall-E more expressive than if he had just been talking the whole time, and the boys at Pixar made it even harder on themselves by giving him only one facial feature: his eyes, and the range of emotions, reactions e.t.c that they were able to get across to the audience using just his (and Eve-A's) eyes was astounding. Normally I'm more of a fan of 2D animation than 3D, but damn if I'm not reminded every three years by these Pixar movies that some wonderful stuff can be created in 3D. They know how to tell a story with animation...More than anyone making animated movies. As for the story, I was expecting an environmental "Save the planet!" message, and was ready to be put-off by having more environmental rhetoric shoved down my throat (as those messages are never subtle) but instead what I got was an amusing and not-at-all cynical anti-consumerism message, which I think is a first for a movie. I honestly can't think of any serious criticism for this movie, which for a kids movie is another first.

By the way, "I was expecting the next Lion King"? Re-watch that movie sometime; it doesn't hold up.

Serious, my g/f went ape shit over this movie. I had to open a beer after the first 15 min of this thing, I knew I'd be in for a long one.
If I were 11yrs old, ya great movie. Otherwise I didn't enjoy it, really women would probably find more "meaning" into the movie. Ill admit its a sweet movie, cute, but not for 90 min.

Maybe to a one eyed retard it wasn't.

There is a meaning to the movie. It's about how we are ruining our planet, we are fat and lazy, we allow corporations to run us, and we don't take responsibility for anything.

We trash a planet and say "Fuck it, robots will fix it" while we go on a space cruse funded by our Government/Retail Store leaders who caused the problems in the first place.

I agree, people went nuts for this movie. It was good, not the best thing since sliced bread. What the fuck did we do before our bread was sliced, we sliced it ourselves!

Quit being lazy fuckers, slice your own damn bread or end up in space as a fat (er) piece of shit!

This.^^ (boldface my own)

I found it to be a decent movie overall, but I definitely agree that one of the major achievements of the film is that they opted to form an entire narrative around a character with incredibly limited expression. It's debatable as to whether this makes the movie entertaining, but this is what a great example of what solid writing/cinematography can do when copious amounts of explanatory dialogue and obvious overacting are not options.

At the very least, I give props to the filmmakers for success in using an ambitious narrative technique.

It would certainly appeal to the 'people whose lives incolce people who are paralyses except for their eyes and eyelids' niche. I'm sure there's something there thew could relate to.

Nah, I really want to see it. It looks interesting - and as someone else put it, it's cool to see where 3D animation at Pixar is going every couple years - plus dialogue is not something I require in movies.

American movies, compared to all the others I have seen, have a rediculous amount of dialogue. It's not a bad thing in itself, especially if the dialogue is excellent material and really makes the movie enjoyable, but it just means you're not used to and then find it so much harder to appreciate those that do feature a limited amount of dialogue. I can (using my imagination) understand how hard it would be to jump the transition from something out of Hollywood to a film crafted in Finland.

Sometimes the overuse of dialogue in American movies shits me though, because I think it's too often used in such a way as to assume the viewer is an idiot and has ADHD and has no fucking idea of what the film is about without everything being explained to them in a way which completely and utterly destroys the movie with it's dumbness.

as he said, this movie was extremely ambitious for a childrens movie, and for that it deserves kudos... i watched it with my girlfriend, and i gotta admit, it was a cute movie to watch...
would i have enjoyed it on my self? probably, but not to such an extent...
but i don't regret watching it... and i'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet

Wall-E wasn't a bad movie, in fact it was quite impressive in some important respects (most Pixar films are like that, though.) I think the overhype surrounding it (OMG WALL E MADE ME CUM HARD ITZ THAT GUD HARRRRRRRR) just turned me off to it overall.

Yeah I really didn't get what the big fuzz was about. Here I thought it was some kinda modern classic, but it let me down. Okay, so they conveyed happiness with happy eyes, sadness with sad eyes.

It was an okay movie, and the political message wasn't as annoying as usual. The scene with Wall-E and Eva in space was cute. Heck, the whole movie was really cute, but it never really spoke to me. Entertaining, but the only reason I won't forget it, is because it was unique, not because it was really good.

I thought it was pretty well executed. Not the best of Pixar movies, but I was pleasantly surprised. I actually liked the lack of dialogue in the first act.

Is it just me or was Wall-e supposed to pay homage to old american robots(like in Short Circuit), and Eva supposed to pay homage to more modern "japanese" robots? Just something I saw, but maybe that wasn't so.

More accurately, EVE was designed by the guy who made the Apple iPod, the Apple iMac, and the Apple iPhone (don't forget to check out the new Apple iPhone 3G!).

Here is a link to the article.

Don't miss the new season of Project Runway, airing Wednesday night on the CW!

Makes sense, since Apple and Pixar fuck each other up the ass on a regular basis.
