Because they aren't being prevent from doing so based on religious reasons. People with mustaches are also prevented from smoking marijuana, yet there isn't any anti-mustache crusade is there?

The issue here is a law that applies to all people in general, not religious people and if society is to change that law it should change it based in general social considerations and not to give their religion a free pass.
