Drum tattoo Ideas

Its going to be my first tattoo, and I feel like something drum related is the best bet for me. Ive been playing drums for 12 years now, its part of my life, im going to school for it and I cant live with out it. Thing is a lot of drum tattoos Ive seen are pretty bad or something so big I dont want to get into that.

I dont plan on getting it big, and i plan on getting it on the right side of my quad, right above my knee. I was thinking something with just a single drum, with crossing drumsticks in front of it or behind it, and over it have some sort of saying regarding playing drums is my life, like "I live to play" or something along those lines. Nothing to extravagant, I dont want fire or snakes or barbed wire and stuff like that for now, maybe something that could be added in later if I wanted to.

Im also making this my first tattoo so my parents warm up to it as well. My mom really is that against it, and my dad is just like go fuck yourself, do not do it. But I know Im definitely able to get him to agree on something along the lines of drums. So what would you think would be the best bet, and if somebody could whip up a quick photoshop of lets say, this drum and crossing if possible behind it. I just want to get some ideas about it, and see how they look.

I'm getting the badge only under my belly button, instead of saying SJC it will say 219.

I actually like that. The badge is pretty awesome, and would probably use that, just dont know what i would replace the SJC with. But that is essentially what I am going for, just with a little bit more detail.

Yeah, it took me forever to find that, but when I did it was a relief.
I'm getting it way more detailed than that and done in greyscale.

And the reason I say 219 is because thats my area code, born and raised here so I figured I would just get that since it's 3 numbers.
It's either that or NWI, but I don't know what'd look better, and NWI can stand for alot of things.

well i just found this and I actually like that a lot, except for the tribal kinda thing in the center.

What do you think would be a good idea to put in the center of that, or just leave it as drum sticks?

That looks pretty cool.
I personally wouldn't get it that large, nor with the tribal part.

And as for things in the center of it, I have no clue.
Maybe a lug key or something like that, or a musical note that is specific to drums.

an old friend of mine got drumsticks crossed across his back after he finished air force basic training. It doesn't look bad at all.

get the blue drum base like in your picture, but for the drum skin draw an actual antelope skin with the head still attached
