get a pvc pipe and 2 closed fittings

fill halfway with blackpowder make small hole and make it airtight put fuse through it. close very tightly. light the long fuse and run away far

red phosphorus isn't a liquid, and i highly doubt that a single drop of that binary could blow up a melon.

A drop of ethyl perchorate probably would, but then making that is suicide. That isn't binary anyway, just a liquid.

Probably not in dropwise ammounts, and it would be hard to get such a small ammount of AP to det reliably.

What do you mean easy and safe? Easy and safe to make, or easy and safe to store?

And the obvious follow-up question, have you've ever made any explosives before? All explosives weather low or high, are non-trivial. Neglecting proper respect will result in death (fair warning). Easy =/= safe, don't know what gave you that idea.

Ok anyway, its *relatively easier to make some HE's over others. Some are *safer than others. I suggest this line up when learning > thermite, blackpowder, Al/CaSO4 thermate, nitrocellulose, AP (never more than a few grams at a time), then TNT (I suggest this HE because I've had lots of fun making it, and its *relatively safe to make and store). From there you should have learned a lot and probably confident enough to take on the big leaguers: NG, ETN, PETN, etc.

As for the binary in the video - my initial reaction is "fake," if you follow the video frame by frame around 3:24 during the slowmo, you notice how the 'flying' sparks don't move during the explosion, appearing more like a photoshoped pause over 3 frames, and the sparks only fly in one direction. Then again who knows, that was a low bit-rate video. Chemistry is a wonderful mystery.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I say its 100% fake, the amount of smoke was excessive(conservation of matter). A .2 gram charge does not produce 5 grams of smoke.

I agree with chainhit it is a mortar underneath. Watch the video and you can see smoke coming UP from under where the melon is. Plus it looks like theres wires on the tube its sitting on probably E-Ignition.

There is no such thing as a easy and SAFE explosive, actually there is no such thing as a Safe explosive period. There are some that are pretty damn stable but still doesn't make them safe.

In my personal opinion if you are going to get into explosives always start with the founder of explosives black powder. Its easy, cheap and not too dangerous. Once you play with that move on to flash powder. Once you have a reasonable respect for the dangers of making explosives move to HE's if you like. Id say the first thing to do for a synthesis is Nitrocellulose as its pretty easy(as long as you make sure it doesn't runaway not so fun trust me haha) and it is safe because the only way you are getting it to detonate is with a secondary so only thing you have to worry about is a little bit of burns if you ignite it. Then from NC its all up to you and what resources you have. Myself I went with AP because its so easy and supplies are always available. But if you are lucky as I was you could also go into MF, or SA just the required materials are a bit harder but both are fun and fairly easy.
