How do you think the pyrimids were built?
I'm hearing mixed opinions as usual, I believe they were built before the ancient egyptians were even around, possibly 7,000 years earlier, or even longer than that.
I think this because the pyrimids at giza plateau are so different than the other ones, I want to say aliens but thats so cliche, and sort a stupid. I just wanted to hear some other peoples opinions about this.

I wouldn't be surprised if it really was aliens or something that did it, but it's entirely possible to do on a human scale. You gotta remember that they were built over generations.

Reptilians.
...but seriously, they were build by ancient egyptians. Thousands of years ago that place wasn't a desert.

Re: How do you think the pyrimids were built?
Well let's see...
The ancient Egyptians had:
- Lots of time on their hands.
- A large area of land.
- Tons of big rocks.
- Hordes of expendable slaves.
Doesn't seem too implausible that they could get it done. Plus it's not that hard to move large rocks when you have them rolling on logs with 20 men pushing and a few guys placing logs in front of the rock as it goes.

Re: How do you think the pyrimids were built?
A lot of the pyramids, like the Great Pyramids of Giza, were not built with slaves but free workers.
It's amazing to think that people had the energy, will and patience to transport rocks over large distances and spend years building the damn things. The mindset of these workers must have been very interesting. I wonder what the motivation was for free workers to do such an arduous job.
And no, aliens didn't build them. That's fucking retarded. Don't discount the ingenuity of earlier civilizations. There's a lot of shit that they did that we can't do now such as types of metalwork.

Here's the mindset of the workers:
Guy A: Dude this fucking sucks.
Guy B: Fuck yeah man. But if we don't do it we'll get tortured by our ruler.
Guy A: Yeah I guess. Hey, what are you doing tonight?
Guy B: IDK, probably gonna hit the town up and fuck a cheap whore.
Guy A: Yeah me too. Hey speaking of cheap whores, do you see the massive tits on that Cleopatra chick? That is some DAMN fine ass!
Guy B: True that man, true that.
....2 Days later
*In the Pharaoh's throne room*
Random Egyptian Judge: You are being tried today on 4 accounts of assfuckerry and random blasphemous bullshitting against the Queen. Do you deny these charges?
Guy A: Uh, what?
Random: Did you or did you not make suggestive remarks about the Queen?
Guy B: Uh...Well...In our defense...Did you SEE those titties?
Random: Hmmmm.....Cleared of all charges!
...And then they went home and with some And that's how I like to picture the pyramids getting built.

No dude your basically a jackass. There is writing in the 5 chambers of the great pyrimid specifically saying that slaves did not build them. NO SLAVES. They were in fact free workers and it was part of there tax to work. They were not whipped and they were actually treated well and there are small tombs allover the city of the dead were the WORKERS, were buried. Your really stupid and obviously ignorant. Check your sources and information before you make a claim like that.
Also Mexicans piss me off. There always waking me up by making all this pointless noise in the fucking morning. Like straight up mowing there lawn at 3in the morning or weedwacking. Just like pointless noisy work. If mexicans can't even cut coke correctly how would you expect them to build a pyrimid it would probably collapse or they would get lazy and coked out and break something.

They well could have maintained a massive aqueduct system with their workforce. Likewise, the sand could have easily buried it all in a matter of decades after it's abandonment.

Egyptians believed that the Pharaoh was a God in human form. I'm sure you know the power of religion; if people are willing to go to war and die en masse in the name of God for a good spot in the afterlife, they're gonna be willing to spend years pushing huge stone blocks around and building a tomb for a God. A quick Google also reveals that the Egyptians thought that if the Pharaoh was not served well or displeased, the Nile wouldn't rise and they'd have a poor harvest (which I imagine was a serious population-fuck back then). That's my best guess for motivation.
As an aside, the Pyramids weren't golden-brown back in the day. They were faced in fine white limestone, and polished to the point where they were almost blindingly reflective, with gold or white metal capstones. Must've looked mighty cool.

Re: How do you think the pyrimids were built?
It is interesting that they even bothered.
Humans are pretty interesting with their bloated ego, that makes them think it somehow warrants them an "afterlife" for eternity.
Interestingly, so many cultures had this belief/hope in some form or other.
Wonder if animals have anything like that.
Sometimes I find myself agreeing with this, though:

I wanted to take relics from them, but heard they kill you if they find out. And I might get sealed inside. That would suck. The pyramids were built by slaves moving boulders, probably.

Re: How do you think the pyrimids were built?
Who and how the pyramids were built are different things.
The pyramids in what we currently call Egypt were built over many years. The earliest pyramid was the Step Pyramid built about 2650BC.
The Step Pyramid is in essence an enlarged Mastaba that has had more "layers" added.

The Mastaba were traditional burrial places for the wealthy of the time. As with so many other things in history, the rich and powerful want to make it larger, better, stronger etc. to show their power and the same thing happened with the pyramids/faraohs. They built taller and later smoother pyramids topping with the Giza Pyramids. There is even a pyramid (built before the ones at Giza) that was planned to be even taller and steeper but the design was dropped due to structural weaknesses showing already when the pyramid was half way finished. The solution was to change the angle of the pyramid and it ended up as the "Bent Pyramid"

If it was finished with the original angle it would have been much taller than the Cheops Pyramid of Giza. All the following pyramids were built to angles in between the angles of the Bent Pyramid (55-43 deg) so the Cheops Pyramid e.g. was built at 52 deg.
As to who built them
Many of the pyramids incl. the Giza ones have inscriptions inside decribing the process of construction, the overseing architect and engineer and their workers. They are recorded to have been feed very well with breweries and other luxuries constructed in the city that emerged to house the workers.
THey were built solely by volunteers. There was no slavery involved unless you consider the entire society of the time to be slavery; the ruler (Pfaraoh) was considered to be God on Earth. So who wouldn´t sacrifice a few years of their time on building a monument for the god incarnated ? You even get your name incribed inside for the gods to see!
As to how they were built
The actual construction (cutting, manouvering and placing the massive stones) has been proven with the help of "Dr. Egypt" / Dr. Zahi Hawass and mny others, most known inscriptions have been decifered and catalogued and they have done practical archeology proving that the stones could be man-handleded and moved from land to barges only usign teams of max. 100 for the more advanced manouvers and normal straight movement of the blocks required only 20 men.
The design and prescision of the work in the later pyramids is to say the least amazing imo. This is a sign of the workers´ dedication to their work and task rarely seen nowadays. People don´t care about quality but only how much they can make and take home every day. There is simply too little people today taking pride in doing craftwork in its suppreme. The workers of ancient Egypt took great pride in their craft and the so perfect construction of a monument that even after thousands of years people still wonder "how did they build that?"

Re: How do you think the pyrimids were built?
arent much of the pyramids solid inside, save for a few channels and chambers?
it wouldnt seem too difficult of a task to do in that case. It would mainly be just transporting and processing rock, which can be done, albeit very slowly

Re: How do you think the pyrimids were built?
I've been told that the pyramids were not built block by block, but instead they used a hardening solution (akin to concrete) to build it. I think there is a decorative layer of rock on top tho (limestone?) ;o
Maybe my history teacher is crazy

Re: How do you think the pyrimids were built?
some time ago, some researcher performed something, as a CAT scan or something else, and determined that the stones he analysed were lesse dense on the inside than the outside...as in...they were fucking bricks !!!!!
but the cool thing is...the sphinx has erosion marks from a water current and is suspected to be much much older then the pyramids
