Re: What are you reading?
The Smithsonian Collection of Newspaper Comics
I used to read parts of this book when I was younger, I found it again and again started reading it. This is some good stuff, from 1896-1974.
Here is what it says at the beginning of the book:
I have enormous respect
for the comic strip as a
potential story and art
form, although far too few
of it's productions have
realized that potential.
If those few, however,
could be gathered into some
sort of complete collection,
the effect on those who
have scorned the comics as
a whole might well be
devastating. . . .
Edmund Wilson
from a letter to Bill Blackbeard
1966

Re: What are you reading?
A fantasy antology (or whatever you call it) a collection of short stories by various authors from all the famous series, these stories are usually some sort of prequels -> Terry Goodkind, Stephan King, Robert Jordan, Tad Williams, Terry Pratchett, George R.R. Martin, Orson Scott Card...
I may only say - it's a fucking good read by some damn good authors.
Also, thanks to the old brainsturbator Library I'm reading "The Advertised Mind", good read.
And Don't Make Me Think by Steve Krug. Been looking for something about information architecture but no success.

Any good or the same old shit? What's the author's background? I have a few books of both for and against various religions and spirituality. Would be interested, if these are worthwhile.

I'm currently reading the works of Elie Wiesel, comparing and contrasting older and new editions, it's remarkable how many times he has changed his story about the holocaust. It's clear he's lying.

Re: What are you reading?
Ive recently been reading books by prominent Christian apologists/theologians just for the hell of it.
But on the literary popcorn side of things, I'm rereading harry potter from the beginning. I just love all the adverby descriptions of everything.

They're heavily illustrated with various works of cultural art, but I'd hesitate to say that they're worth a person's time.

Re: What are you reading?
I always read a few books at a time. At the moment, i'm reading (nearly finished all of them) Agent of evolution, about bill hicks, The God delusion, by Richard Dawkins, and God is not great, by Christopher Hitchens.
All very good books. I would definetly recomend them all. My personal favorite, is agent of evolution. but i'd only recomend that if you like hicks. i would definetly recomend the god delusion to anyone though.

Re: What are you reading?
I'm just finishing up "Predictably Irrational" by Dan Ariely. It's ok, I guess. It's somewhat pretentious and makes some loose connections of the causality of his experiments he does but other than that it's a good read.

Why I stopped reading his books. They're all pretty much the same thing.
"Choke" was fun though, while it lasted. I hope you enjoy it, too.

I've just finished One Flew Over The Cuckoos' Nest, so I'm starting The Fountainhead, finally, as my not-by-choice book, and translating Voltaire's Candide from the original French text for leisure reading.
