ATTN: Brits - can I exchange £5 coins for notes in a bank?

I know I could put it in my bank and then withdraw it, but I've lost my bank card (and wallet, fuck knows where they are).

So yea, can I exchange £5 coins for a £5 note? I know they're legal tender and all that jazz, but read conflicting reports on google.

Never tried that, cos if I want notes rather than coins, I just go to corner shops. They are always willing to exchange money. If you have like hundreds of pounds in coins, then that would be a bitch to exchange...

Just try the bank, I don't see why they wouldn't allow it.
