Get safety razors!!!
i got one of these and they are amazing! double edge safety razors. multi blade refills are like $15 for 4 of them. and only last two shaves for me.
I got a safety razor and they are like $2 for 10 of them and last me up to 4 shaves sometimes. and it is as close as the multi blade gilletes and stuff. screw these people, get a safety razor.
EDIT: also i don't have a problem with neck irritation

Re: Get safety razors!!!
I have a safety razor but I've never used it. I got one of those 4 blade deals where you can replace the blade. I've got probably 10 shaves out of it and its just now starting to get dull. I haven't replaced the blades yet so I don't know how economical it is.

you must be thinking of a straight razor. you do replace the blades on a safety razor but they are like 1/15 the price and last longer. they aren't the knife looking things, they just look like old razors.

As a guy who shaves everyother day, they're not economical at all. Get a electric or cheap disposiable razors. They are much cheaper.

read my post! even disposable razors are expensive compared to using safety razors. plus the razor itself is like ancient and it beats the shit out of any modern razor. but you can buy new ones on amazon for like $30 and they are worth it!

I know what your talking about. Its the metal razors that are shaped like a T. I didn't know you could even buy blades for those still. I might try it out sometime but the blade on mine is covered with rust.

maybe my facial hair is tougher or something. but even after one time when i shave my upper lip the second time it hurts like hell. the point is, you get more shaves out of these cheap generic double edge blades.

Sorry, thats what multi-tasking does; leads to a shit reply. If you really want the best deal, buy a straight razor and elather to sharpen it with. You could easily keep it for 30+ years. And your shave would be smooth as a baby's ass (No Joe Pedo.)

I have a really nice straight razor and strop but I'm terrified of using it on most of my face where the grain is questionable. Gillette Fuzions' last me 15+ shaves.

might be an option too. I don't know how hard they would be too keep sharp but it doesn't seem easy. but my point is just to stop using those multi-blade ones. disposable ones arent that bad for price but they aren't great and they don't cut nearly as smoothe as a safety razor.
also I should probably tell you if you are going to do this, they are very sharp so be carful or you will probably cut yourself.

The safety razors or the straight razor? I don't have the balls to use a straight razor; my grandma knows how to use one and has shaved my first for me, although she won't do it if she's feeling shaky or has had too much coffee.

i do the same thing. the blades for the safety razors don't look like much but they really are. I couldn't believe it. like i said, the second time i use a fusion blade it hurts like shit, and it'll only be two days later. i usually use these cheap ass generic safety blades all week.
sasquatch i was talking about safety razors. I've never used a straight razor. I don't think that is the best idea but whatever works for you.

Safety razors are awesome. They give a really close shave, and the refill blades are super cheap. Plus I like the heft of the metal. Plastic razors are emasculating. I wanted to get a straight razor, but I don't want the hassle of having to strop and hone it.

Multiblade shit is garbage. Same with all that retarded shaving foam and alcohol-drowned balms they market.

You can get a straight razor that uses disposable blades. They're designed/made for barbers who must follow health regulations to prevent the spread of AIDS

Re: Get safety razors!!!
Two things:
1.) Just go all the way and use a straight razor. It'll be more badass.
2.) Hair doesn't dull your razors that much. It will clog them up, but it won't degrade the blades, so as long as you can get the hair out the razor will pretty much cut like new. WATER and shaving creams on the other hand, will rust your blades and ruin their edges.
You wanna make your disposable razors last longer? Clean the hair out when it gets to be too much, but more importantly dry them after every use.
You're savin' money. Fuckin, green to white technology.

when your razor blade appears to be getting a little dull, rub it backwards about 10 times on your arm. The skin acts like an old-fashioned leather strop and sharpens the blade!

I tried it a couple of times. Maybe it was placebo, but it felt like the blade didn't get dull as quickly. I stopped anyways because I'm lazy, but it seems its worked for other people.

It's up to the person. i looked them up and read reviews and it looks like a decent one will cost you a lot. unless you get the ones that have throw away blades, and for me that kind of defeats the purpose of a straight razor. i have never messed with one but if they cut you as easy as they say they do i couldn't imagine being able to shave my jawline. it would be cool to have in case i had to cut a nigga but like i said this is just about how all the multi blade stuff is overpriced crap.
I might buy a new one like the merkur ones to see if they are so good. but the old one i have now works fine. and i will definately get one of the shaving brushes and start getting the old school shaving cream. it sounds a lot better.

Re: Get safety razors!!!
You guys are nuts. Just go buy a electric shaver. I bought one for $50 and ive had it for 2 years now. Still works great.
I honestly dont even know the prices of razors. I guess the razor itself is $15? But those stupid blades cost like $10 for 5 blades at most? Then you have to buy shaving cream which is another $5 for however long it lasts. Seems like a waste of money.
Im just saying if you want to save lots of money, have 100% safety, and dont want to use shaving cream, then get an electric shaver!
That whole "close shave" gimmick is bullshit. All razors/shavers are the same. No one is going to notice that you have 0.000001 hair on your face.

actually you do notice it. i've had close shaves with razors like this
but i had razor burns like crazy. other kinds I've used leave stubble. and they don't last forever either.

Re: Get safety razors!!!
Yeah there was a thread about this a while ago.
I have a 1930s chinese safety razor in a cool little sprung brass box with a mirror and spares in it. I get really decent Wilkinson Sword blades off of ebay for like 20p each - they come all the way from India!
It shaves stubble wayyyyy better than any multibladed plastic shit. And the quality blades last for a dozen shaves at least.
Plus I like the way it works - it's incredibly simple (only has three parts, plus a single-part blade) and the metal has some provenance and a nice patina from age, which is the complete opposite of modern razors. Despite the blades being disposable, the razor has been around for eighty years.
Modern razors also suffer from what I call Power Ranger Syndrome. This is where something looks like it's something that a Power Ranger would own. Bicycles, motorbikes, razors, and a lot of general man-accessories and man-bling things suffer from this. The safety razor is classic and classy and has a completely functional aesthetic.
I've got a cutthroat straight-razor but it's too much hassle to use and I'm not good at sharpening things.

Re: Get safety razors!!!
Better yet, save lots of time and money and grow a beard.
I stopped shaving in 1989.
When I did shave, it seemed like the kind of shaving cream was as important as the razor--I used Edge gel.

Re: Get safety razors!!!
^ agreed. I only shave after showering. I do apply a very small amount of Wilkinson Sword shaving oil, which I like because it comes in a tiny blue bottle with a discreet logo on it and it smells really nice. It's the same stuff that barbers use.
I like the original Bic razors too.

Really simple, cheap and totally unpretentious. Unfortunately they don't work particularly well. Not particularly badly, to be fair, but just not particularly well.
