Bioshock Infinite
http://kotaku.com/5607451/bioshock-i...into-the-skies
Mmmmm...teaser trailer...
So they'll be taking Bioshock out of the sea and into a city floating in the air in America 1912.
I've always been a big fan of the scenery and story of Bioshock and, from the short trailer, it looks like Infinite will have all that good stuff. The roses are a nice touch.

Me either.
I'm close to the end. So close. I need to finish it...I feel like one of the last few people on the planet who hasn't. I keep getting distracted by shiny new games or winding up with no time for games at all.
I've loved every minute of it so far. It rly deserves to be completed.

That looks awesome
I'm still on Bioshock 1 too! It just seems so freaking long! ...and scary I'm not sure if I'll even play Bioshock 2 as a lot of people said it didn't need to be made and the story was good and done in the original Bioshock, does anyone else think this?
Part of not playing is that I absolutely hate horrors, but I love the storyline so I just couldn't help but buy it

Re: Bioshock Infinite
I was sick when I got to the end of Bioshock and had to put on the Big Daddy outfit. The view from inside the suit was making my eyes water like crazy so I said fuck it and quit. This new version looks pretty cool btw.

Looks pretty cool.
The original is probably one of my favourite games, the atmosphere is incredible. Maybe better than System shock 2 even.

I played on hard mode, and did it without vita chambers. I still found it fairly easy.

Fraps the entire thing, post it here or gtfo.
Do bioshock 2, so we can see some expert 1 on 1 with bigsister.

Didn't even play on PC. I assume it would be easier, I'm better with a mouse.

I'm just good at FPS games. I don't really care if you believe me or not. I didn't find the game very difficult. I typically play quake on instagib. Now that's difficult.

Yeah, and i'm good at FPS games aswell.
But saying bioshock 2 on hard is easy is just bullshit.
Especially with nothing to back it up.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
I disagree.
I died plenty of times when i did it, and therefore it cannot be considered easy.
Maybe not hard either but defenitly not easy.
Again though, i still want evidence that you didn't die or was close at any point.
Without it, you lot are nothing but liars.

On a semi related note: a real life floating city might be awesome.
Except for the whole "difficulty finding resources/ falling to your death" thing.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
Soooo...ITT we ignore a new Bioshock game to talk (meh...argue) about how friggin awesome we were at the first Bioshock game...
Okay. I can dig it.
I played on normal difficulty. Died many many times but mostly because I discovered that there was absolutely no death penalty whatsoever. So sometimes I'd dive facefirst at a Big Daddy, get my ass kicked, respawn, and do it again until he was dead. It became a contest to see how many deaths it took to beat the asshole to the ground using only my fucking wrench.
Sure, it was fun and challanging to make Big Daddy run through a carefully planned gauntlet of trapbolts, mines, security cams, and various turrets all while I'm running backwards hitting him with ice and electricity and heat-seeking missiles. Why bother though when it's less time consuming to just keep shooting at him until he rips me a new one and then I respawn literally within spitting distance with no consequences?
Well...the only real consequence being that, if I was after a Little Sister, she'd usually be gone after my 3rd or 4th respawn...
Srsly though. It was a fun game that nearly made me crap my pants a couple of times. Can't we just leave it at that? Does it really matter if you beat it on insano destructo mode with no lives lost using only a goddamn toothpick?

Thank you.
The one thing I liked most about the original was fucking Rapture. The 1950s atmosphere turned on it's head and jammed into a city several hundred feet beneath the ocean surface. Also 99% of the population had been driven batshit insane as a result of a bit too much gene splicing and they were all out to fucking murder you. Rapture was fucking awesome.
Colombia, set in an alternate 1912 post-Civil War America, looks even more promising and full of potential to me. Also, I like some of the stuff I read in the article.
Quote:
|
It appears that we are also going to be encouraged to think of the people of Columbia as a collection of individuals. Levine said that Infinite extends the idea shown in BioShock that not every character who you come across in these first-person shooters is a violent enemy. "We showed that idea of 'neutrality' in the demo," he said in the prepared interview, referring to the gameplay sequence we were shown. "When you walk into the bar, the guys there just look at you. They don't attack right away, which is very deliberate... [W]e thought 'wouldn't it be great if you walked into a room in this game and you didn't necessarily know the dispositions of the people in it? Are they going to sit there? Are they going to attack you? What might set them off?' We really wanted to have a notion that not everyone in the city was automatically hostile towards you. Instead it has more of that 'Wild West' feel where you walk into a bar with your hand on your pistol and you're not sure what's going to happen to you."
|
But meh. It's still a long way away from release. I hope they stick with these ideas through completion.

I guess because there isn't much to discuss yet. Video looks cool and I like the idea of the setting, not much more to say until more is known.

I suppose you're right.
Still, the article's a pretty good read and I like the stuff they talk about.
I hope they at least have some new ideas for Infinity and not just a "Bioshock 1, but it's in a friggin sky city" approach.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
I just saw the trailer and was coming here to make a thread if no one else had. I think it's good that they're setting this one outside of Rapture in the complete opposite of a city, but I just hope that Bioshock isn't going to become a franchise that regularly keeps pumping out a new game every few years and ruins it.

Why are you so fucking bothered by this? The first game WASN'T difficult by any stretch of the imagination, and I haven't gotten around to #2 yet. I got through on hard with just a handful of deaths, and the last FPS that I really got into/played a lot was Future Perfect, so I'm hardly some pro at the genre. Actually, one of the few recurring criticisms I ever hear about the game is that it's just too easy. Were you upset that your clever little 'easymode' comment made no fucking sense? Does it bug you that you're too slow to figure out the game mechanics as well as some strangers on the internet, or is it just a full blown inferiority complex?

Re: Bioshock Infinite
So this game's setting predates the original's by about 50 years. I wonder how they rationalize the powers you get, as genetic modification this early in history is pretty far-fetched.
The trailer didn't really sell me. The part where the girl is taken and he hangs in the air for a second before falling seems comedic. The "Big Daddy" with the beating heart in a jar is another casualty of the "Boss with obvious weak point" cliche.
But I enjoyed the first 2 games for the story and narration, not the gameplay. A story about rampant national pride could be good too.

I think that's my biggest concern.
Bioshock was scary. A secret world that was supposed to be a paradise that's now a hellhole filled with drug-addicts and fucking robots.
Now, the new girl looks like a puppet, assuming the other people will look similar. And that would definately pull the realism out of the experience.

Why the fuck do you care?
When i see someone descibe a game as easy, even though they actually died quite a few times init, then its clearly because they wanna boost thier e-peen.
I don't like when people try to do that. Its like they think they are better than me, and they think that i will believe that.
Clearly i wont.
But again, why the fuck do you care?
Inferiority complex? does it bother you that i post in this thread?
You have to be offensive so you can boost your e-peen?
Gratz rl retard.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
There's no reason to get upset. It's just a game- albeit a very easy one- but it isn't exactly like most conventional FPS, so I can see how you might have struggled at parts.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
More like tardmode. If you want any kind of challenge, since you're on PC, dl a difficulty mod.

Re: Bioshock Infinite
I love the steampunk/flying city look, I'm going to play it just for the setting. But that's pretty much all I can comment on is the setting because that was more or less what was shown. Still awesome though.
