I was just going in the house, getting back from work and he stopped me and asked me if I could get him the number for a car parts shop. I shaid sure, I checked on the net and gave him the number. He said he was servicing his sons car and realised the brake pads needed changed and asked me if I thought it would be easy for him to do.

I said sure, take the wheel off, undo the bottom calliper bolt, slacken the top one, raise the calliper, take the old ones out, push the pistons back, new pads in, slide the calliper home, tighten alll back up and wheel back on.

He said 'would you do it if I went for the parts and gave you £20?'. Dosnt take too much thinking about - £20 for 10-25 minutes work.

I said yes.

Then it started thundering and pissing down.

Better find my waterproofs.

I didnt charge him - ho offered. He could have taken it to a garage and payed some one else.

It bit me in the arse anyway - he had bought the wrong brake pads and I had to wait best part of an hour in the rain while he went and got the right ones.

Not when he should have only been 1/2 hour max. It would have been pointless going in - take all of my tools in, take my overalls and boots of and get washed up only to have to put them all on again and get dirty again.

Being wet is one thing. Geting dry and then putting wet overalls back on is worse.

Not today - it had some crappy pressed steel seats that fitted into the calliper. Saying that, I allways fuck my fingers up when I do drum brakes because of the springs and clips in them.

It was his fat useless gay sons car - I would have made it dirty and he would have cried. I did stand in the doorway rather than in the open rain, but still, it was heavy rain.
