Black Widow?

So my friend just hit me up. He says he's getting a little peek at a little Black Widow. Apparently it's a nice (mostly) Sativa strain that's a hybrid between South Indian and Brazilian plants. I'm wondering how I know it's legit. Because Black Widow is DANK bud, and it won the High Times Cup. Which means that it might not be legit.

I would expect that it would be pretty trichome rich and the bud should be a bit long due to the Sativa lineage. The plant itself is very resinous and therefore has a piney smell according to one source (tons of terpenoids --> tons of tasty cannabinoids).

So before I even ASK how much the bud is going to cost, I want to know how I can tell if it's legit. Because Sativa is the subspecies of herb I really need now to kill my depression/anxiety. I can either get this shit or some nameless Indica bud.

The truth is you can NEVER tell the strain your getting is 100% legit unless you know the grower...and the grower grew from seeds he got out of the BREEDERS PACKET.

That's just for 100% proof. That's not saying that the shit you get isn't ever named right but you count 90% of the time that it's not (unless you buy from a reputable source or dispensary).

Widow is a name I've heard throw around since the very late 90's (when I first heard kids talk about weed) so I've never really believed anyone...but then again widow genetics are rather common...just not black widow specifically.

Yea. I just need some good Sativa-dominant shit. I need something that keeps me awake and comes down by making me sleep. I got a guy for White Russian -- sounds legit. He wants $45 an eighth. Probably should rename this thread, because right now I'm trying to find legit dank. Most of the shit out here is gross schwag from Mexico or the hills. Legit stuff is out of reach for me for the most part, or the dealers only sell in +ounce sizes.
