Zoklet Minecraft Game (Yes, we're BACK!(Again!))

So, I have usurped Qhost's job as chief minecraft-server-runner person.

I am running a Minecraft server, it is the latest version, or one behind the latest, depending on what is involved in the update. Everyone on Zoklet is welcome to join, we'd love to have you. To join, you need a minecraft client, it's a cool game made by a cool guy, so it wouldn't kill you to buy it. That said, no one wants to pay for something you can get for free. I have taken measures to ensure that the server will work with pirated copies of the game as long as they're up to date. I assume you're smart enough to track down a illegal copy of the game if you're so inclined, if you can't, post in the thread and someone will point you in the right direction.

Also, to cut down on griefing (people fucking up the game), I've put in a white-list. PM me with the handle you plan to play under and I'll add you. The address is jenkins-arch.com

Did they add WORKING survival mode multiplayer yet? As in more than one type of mob and they can actually be killed? And your player can die as well?

I'm playing lanny's map. However I does lag alot for me, but I think that's due to my recent internet slow down (I download now at 3/4 kb/sec)

And i thought notch fixed Furnaces in SMP? I lost a stack of iron ore....

They can be temperamental but they do work most of the time, I was able to make a batch of about 50 glass without problems.

Thanks everyone for playing, I'm glad to see community interest. If anyone builds something substantial post about it so I can extend the "highway" system or tunnel to it. I'm also offering payment for work on the highway system in wood or coal.

I made my own and it seemed to work a lot better.

And i'm clearing out a valley. I planed to make a lake too since there is a water fall at the back but water physics seemed to be broken still.

Yah, the water's a problem. I think I can make it work from the server locally but I'm hoping for an update to fix the issue for client side players.

The whole point is to build stuff right? There's a small amount of monsters that threaten your existance, but other than that it is pretty pointless. No problem in that, all video games are pointless when you look at it like that. Minecraft is no more than a game of Sims where you create stuff right? But it's not. It's a fucking 8 bit piece of shit game where you legit put blocks together, and not even complexly.

It's like every single one of you fuckers are retrograding to your childhood when you played with legos and shit, but those are even cooler than Minecraft. You are spending hours upon hours of your life to create a tower that will be seen by no one and will have no affect on anyone, and, in the end, you didn't even enjoy yourself like you would have with a normal video game.

1 the game isnt finished, it is still in alpha build.
2 that being said notch is already increasing the complexity of monsters and so forth, adding PVP eventually. and once all the multiplayer bugs are ironed out that should become more interesting. And really? Whats wrong with legos, i still love legos.

I'm currently offering 3 diamond ingots for the design and 3 more for the construction of a large library. It must be large enough to fit 50 blocks of book cases stacked three high. The architecture should also be suitably "flamboyant". It must also be above ground. I'll provide the books and furnishings.

I keep getting the message "outdated client", the problem can't be on my end since I redownloaded minecraft several times. Outdated server client?

Yah, the server is outdated. I thought I could just replace the executable via FTP (the server is at work) but apparently my SSH died on me without my knowing, so I can't terminate the process to allow me to slap in the new executable.

What that means is that I need local access to the server, which I'll have by tomorrow morning.

The Halloween update is now officially online on the server. Yay!

One thing though, please make obsidian portals sparingly as they are hard to get rid of and they make navigation it "the slip" difficult.

Short downtime today due to stupid co-workers, I don't know if anyone noticed.

Also, I can regen the map, which means all the work done so far is gone, but it gives a more varied environment i.e. deserts, islands, forests and tundra. I could go either way but if anyone's attached to the current map I'll leave it.
