Poles, Czechs, Slovaks and etc. prefer to consider themselves central Europeans. Eastern Europe is really just Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, the Caucasus countries and by some definitions, the Baltic states (together with Finland they are often considered their own region). Then again, this is largely just semantics. It's more or less safe to say that everything east of Germany/Austria is "eastern Europe."
