Re: The washington post is writing cannabis science fiction
I like how the idiot says at one point in the article that the state of California arrested almost a million people in 2009 for possession on marijuana, and then just a few paragraphs down he says that making marijuana legal to posses will not create any financial benefit. Now, if you're NOT prosecuting a million fucking people a year, with each and every case costing the taxpayers THOUSANDS of dollars, how could they NOT save financially by NOT PROSECUTING THOSE CASES!? This guy is a total moron.

For once I sort of agree - however, if police aren't busy busting people marijuana, they'd be busy stopping other crimes instead.

Reading through thousands of these pig's arrest reports and the sentencing sheets on those arrests for the past 10 years or so, you can plainly see that these prosecutors and judges are somehow sending people away for 5 and 7 year sentences for petty offenses such as passing a forged check and trafficking small amounts of cocaine and heroin... NO PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS! It's sick. What the taxpayer should do is DEMAND their hard-earned money be used WISELY instead of squandered away on kangaroo courts of their own making. Get rid of these totally inappropriate sentences AND the prosecutors, police officers and judges who create them, and THEN America will start to make some serious progress in this regard.

It's only a gateway drug because the same guys who are in the marijuana blackmarket often has access to all other black market substances.
If weed were on a shelf or grown in a home...there wouldn't automatically be cocaine, MDMA or whatever sitting in the safe right next to it.
Weed is a gateway to the BLACK MARKET...we as a nation get to choose what we want on the black market (illegal) and what we want on the white market (legal). Place marijuana in the white market and you will have effectively destroyed any "gateway" to anything but being stoned off weed.
So if you think weed is a gateway drug...DESTROY THE FUCKING GATE by legalizing it. If you don't think its a gateway drug then LEGALIZE IT BECAUSE ITS NOT THAT BAD.

I have two trains of thought on this:
A The gateway theory doesn't work because it starts from weed. it should start from water.
water-milk-tea-coffee-cigarettes-weed-etc
B If weed were sold in a shop then people who had to buy their weed of a dealer who sells other things would never come into contact with that dealer otherwise.
